A story I’ve been hearing my whole life. I used to think about being 5 like he was; now it’s his mother I feel the most. She had 7 kids, pregnant with the 8th. Burying her husband, the breadwinner. Watching the company doctor take the stand to make sure she and her babies grew up in poverty. All who knew her would tell you not only did she survive, she remained a saint until her last breath. The best person our dads and uncles and grands have ever known. People live through horrors that influence generations. They watch their parents make it through while deciding things. I am in a career and world view inextricably linked to this event. Really makes you think about the villain origin stories being written as we speak. #laborhistory #womenshistorymonth #laborrightsarehumanrights

What’s in a name? The poetic journey of my grandpa, Franklin Delano Hurt. 🫶 @fhurt1239 10/10 recommend getting your people and their stories on camera in their 80’s. There are really no words for what this meant to me. 🎥🙏: @jmziggs

It has taken an absolute village to get me through the last month. After 2 weeks in Vegas the last thing I wanted to do was make this drive…but the thing about a family wedding is EVERYBODY shows up. I’m so glad we did it. Thank you to my mom for flying out and managing my house and sick dog while I worked; my sister-in-laws (all of them, @mcool333, @taralarimer, @leahmhurt) for assisting, and then putting us up and hosting a last-second birthday bash for my Ace-man; and my cousin @whitneyliess for bringing us all together for this perfect summer-ending weekend. 🥰 Most beautiful bride I’ve ever seen, cheers to your next chapter!🥂#livelongandprosser

Another little film I made from living and shooting headshots in LA about 17 years ago! This is my sense of humor and hope you enjoy. If you don’t have wings, get some! So I did literally, thanks to my favourite ethical yoga brand @freespirit.co and spiritually. After a conversation with a friend, I realised I needed to change my mindset. I was feeling like my life was on hold due to more lockdowns and this crazy pandemic. I was going down the rabbit hole of “ I am not free to go here, there, I can’t do what I want anymore and blah blah blah. This focus on what I no longer had stopped me from fully enjoying what I do have, such as amazing friends, family, so much love, great health, interesting projects and a purpose. Maybe some of you can relate to what I am sharing here. Let’s remember we all do have wings and we all can fly ❤️

We always have a choice. Many of us are feeling powerless with our present pandemic. We feel our freedom has been taken away and the uncertainty is just too much to bear. I know I do feel like this at times however I also know not to focus on this. I know that I am totally in charge of my responses to this world event and I can still be empowered by the decisions I take. What I choose to do or not do daily, who I choose to spend my time with (online or through physical distancing of course) and what I put into my body and wear on my body. Where I spend my money I have total control of. Choosing companies that do good are my first choice when purchasing. Check out my latest purchase this gorgeous organic cotton yoga top by my friends @freespirit.co who are also local. Apart from wanting to minimise their environmental impact this brand helps Indian children in poverty by donating a percentage of sales on every purchase. My tee has just donated 3 months of educational materials to a child. How good is that ! 😊

“Creativity involves breaking out of established patterns in order to look at things in a different way “ Edward De Bono Great morning on my leadership program led by Angela Heise studying the six hats model by De Bono. Six Thinking Hats" is based on the idea that parallel thinking provides a means for groups to plan thinking processes in a detailed and cohesive way, and in doing so to think together more effectively. We applied this model in fun activities today and a reoccurring theme in relation to Covid is that leadership requires a whole new approach that is more personal, flexible and requires old frameworks of expectation and conduct to be overturned. I decided to wear my large dangly earrings because I had previously been told from corporate days, you do not wear these to meetings and I wanted to dress in what I love. This of course included my gym leggings. I was also reminded of my school days where I wore bright silk shirts under my boring black school tunic as I never wanted to be the norm. Sorry for the long post but I pose my question: What is the norm these days? We now have a perfect opportunity to create a new norm with all life matters. We can still be professional in business whilst allowing ourselves to be real and not some robot. Don’t you think it’s wonderful seeing people’s kids, animals even bedrooms in some of the meetings now as we are being transported into peoples homes and private lives? Please share with me your thoughts. ❤️

A tea that is a perfect for the soul. The organic ingredients of licorice, chamomile, spearmint and rose are sublime. Communitea is weaving community together over a daily Fika [fee-ka]; a moment taken to nourish yourself and connect with others. This tea unlocks access to an online community of like minded individuals keen to connect through social isolation. Each Wednesday the tea customers meet to discuss health, wellbeing and what it means to be living through isolation, of course while sipping our communitea together. Community is a core value for me so guess who will be at the next Fika 😘
