✊🏾On Friday, Jan 18th, a few days before the federal holiday that celebrates his birthday, we gathered in downtown State College to commemorate Dr. MLK Jr. and, at the same time, continue to create a community that stands for justice.

We must now continue his legacy and fight for social justice for minorities in this country, who are suffering discrimination on a daily basis. We must continue to remind ourselves, in his words that: “[w]hat is needed is a realization that power without love is reckless and abusive, and that love without power is sentimental and anemic. Power at its best is love implementing the demands of justice, and justice at its best is love correcting everything that stands against love.” ( _Where Do We Go from Here?_)

These words can be felt today; love for ourselves, for what we are can only be attained and preserved with justice.

Some scenes from part one of Penn State alumni activities. First the Black Alumni Reunion where several people including myself were honored at the legends luncheon. Congratulations to my fellow honorees. I am deeply grateful to the reunion and awards committees for their hard work. Finished by hosting my cousin Sterling Jenkins for brunch. He’s making his transition from football player to graduate school applicant&budding novelist. #RaisetheBar #WearePennState @pennstate @pennstatealums @pennstatethon @pennstatefball @psubellisario @aljazeeraenglish
