The Trussville Historical Society recently purchased some shelves and other safekeeping items (not in video due to shipping delays 😜) for the Trussville Historical Museum.

Here’s a quick video showing you the transformation of a storage area that will now serve as our Trussville-themed merchandise inventory space!

What can an old newspaper tell us about the place we call home?

In this short video, I head into the archives at the Trussville Public Library to dig through old Trussville newspapers and forgotten publications—and see what turns up.

From a 1956 Trussville Chamber of Commerce Advertiser to a 1986 Jefferson Advertiser, these pages reveal much more than headlines. They offer glimpses of the people, places, businesses, events, and everyday concerns that shaped Trussville.

There are old bridges, Little League baseball, local theater, community projects, businesses, and plenty of stories hiding in plain sight.

Come along as we search the archives for some local lore.

Join me August 25 at 7 p.m. at Ferus Artisan Ales for a night exploring the surprising stories hidden in the past of Trussville and beyond. This live presentation uncovers the kinds of stories that rarely make it into textbooks -- but have shaped the places we know today.

The evening will feature a short opening story, a deep dive into a fascinating chapter of local history, and other quick-hit stories from around the area -- each one unusual, surprising, meaningful, or just plain fun. After the presentation, stick around for an open Q&A where the audience can ask questions, share memories, and explore even more hidden corners of local history.

Grab a drink, pull up a chair, and discover the deep roots and hidden stories all around us.
