POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Hey Miami, there’s a new(ish) gallery in town that you have to experience. The first feature show opened January 2025. Eighteen months in and the second location of Stanek Gallery is just getting warmed up.

I compiled this video in response to the countless stories about art galleries that got it wrong. Here’s a look at the results of a dedicated hard working gallery team passionate about making a difference and doing it right. How do I know this? I’m an artist, a collector and a gallery owner who knows how to serve both.

If you were there, thank you and enjoy the walk down memory lane - we couldn’t be here without you. If you missed it, here is a peek at what you missed.

We are delighted to share this quote by sculptor @garyweisman , whose foreword in Drawing in Space places the book within a much longer lineage of figurative sculpture, atelier teaching, and the living transmission of sculptural knowledge.

“In Drawing in Space, a clarity is being offered that may not have been available since Edouard Lanteri’s Modelling and Sculpting the Human Figure (1902).”
— Gary Weisman
Sculptor; Visiting Sculpture Faculty, @lymeacademy

Gary’s foreword reflects on Drawing in Space as both a practical guide and a contribution to the living tradition of figurative sculpture: a way of seeing, building, editing, and understanding form.

As the Kickstarter enters its final 48 hours, we are gathering the last orders before confirming the size of the first-edition hardback print run. We are very grateful to Gary for his generous and thoughtful introduction to the book, and to everyone who has helped bring Drawing in Space to this point.

The 4th Annual Invitational Sculptors’ Retreat

Over the weekend, artists from around the world gathered, some for the first time and others returning, for three days of sculpting, lectures, shared meals, and conversation, continuing a community that grows with each retreat.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to the generous donors and volunteers who gave their support and time to make this year’s retreat such a special gathering.

Special thanks to our board members, to those who generously opened their homes to visiting artists, to Laura Lee Miller, High Hopes, and to the local restaurants who supported the retreat: Paperback Café, Hangry Goose, Coffees, Mindy K’s, and the Hideaway.

More moments from the weekend to come.

The Sculptor’s Retreat at Lyme Academy. We sculpted together, laughed together, traded stories, talked shop and process and even had a few lectures. I can’t be more grateful for this community and the encouragement I feel and new and old friendships I’ve built over the years! Thank you @chadfishersculpture and @lymeacademy for hosting us. I had the best time.

Our hearts are bursting, our eyes can shed no more tears. True happiness is to enjoy the present.

It’s already been a week since Nuisance Bear’s World Premiere at The Library. Here are few snapshots from that moment.
