Heading back out this fall with Will Reagan and Ivan Theva to continue our experiment in alternative live music experiences. LOW production. LESS ‘performers’ on stage, MORE everyone in a room together. NO preaching, NO persuasion - just being together and trusting that our Lord’s peace is accessible.. when we slow down.. when we wait. When we let it be awkward. When we allow for silence.
Come join us!

Wanted you to see all that is going into my teaching this week for the Theology and Practice of Discipleship classes I’m teaching at @rockbridgeseminary. I want my students to be introduced to lots of different modalities - @itsmonicaritchie new and amazing book, the Ignatian exercises, Visio Divina (image of woman anointing Jesus’ feet) which is material by @lorishoults and @practicecollective_ as well as Eugene Peterson , my friend @joshhilburn and @gatherhouston , Wendell Berry, Mary Oliver, John O’Donohue and @abbeyofthearts !

Theological education is always better when it’s robust !

Man… words really can’t describe the gratitude I feel after experiencing the Mystic Hymnal.

I’ve been part of church most of my life and have experienced many different expressions of worship over the years… but this morning felt unlike anything I’ve experienced before.

It was honest. Reflective. Grounding. Expansive.
The kind of experience that doesn’t just stay in the room with you… it follows you home and sits with your spirit.

Really grateful for the community, the church, and for Michael Gungor helping create such a meaningful experience.

Moments like this remind me that growth, wonder, and connection with God can still surprise you. ❤️‍🔥 @gatherhouston @michaelgungor @gungormusic

The mystic teachings from Jesus Christ in John 17 have been shrunken down to handle fights over the church carpet and what to do with the edgy youth minister. This teaching is about ~everything~

8 dates left of Mystic Hymnal’s spring tour… where will we see you?! (clearly we’ve been having a little bit of fun)
