It’s a bittersweet day at Arete Strength and Performance.

@gavin.moncure stopped by this morning to train with me and shared some big news: he’s accepted a pilot job in Arizona and is moving there on Monday! Of course, he couldn’t leave without getting one last lift in at Arete 💪.

I’m incredibly proud of him and excited to see him chase new goals and dreams. But it’s never easy saying goodbye to athletes who’ve been part of this gym for years—especially guys who were in the original AreteCrew like Gavin.

He was here back when this place looked more like a storage closet than a gym. After his first 12-week reassessment, I knew the training systems I was building would be a game-changer for athletes.

Gavin’s the kind of athlete every coach dreams of: the hardest worker in any room, and willing to sacrifice anything for his goals.

It’s been an honor watching him grow as an athlete and a man over the past five years. I can’t wait to see him soar as a pilot.

Building relationships with athletes like him and seeing them become great young men and women—that’s why I love this job.

The 4th Annual 6am New Year’s Eve Lift was a success!

Ended 2024 with an awesome group of guys hitting some big PRs!

Excited to see what’s in store for these guys in 2025.

This event has made New Year’s Eve one of my favorite days of the year. Thanks to everyone who came out!

Last year at our 3rd Annual 6am New Year’s Eve Lift we had 4 athletes deadlift over 500lbs 👀

@adamgillett14 500lbs
@mthom.02 545lbs
@coachlaroi.aretestrength 550lbs
@gavin.moncure 570lbs

I wonder how many we will have pull over 500lbs this year!

Can’t wait to see!

Pick up the intensity for your training because we’re only 5 weeks away from our 4th annual 6am New Year’s Eve Lift!

All current and former Arete members are invited to this event. Shoot us a dm if you plan on attending so we know how many donuts and energy drinks to get.

Ended the year with a great group!

I always look forward to our annual New Year’s Eve 6am lift.

Best way to end the year is with some donuts, energy drinks, smelling salts, back slaps, PRs and great people.

Can’t wait to see what 2024 has in store for everyone that’s a part of the #AreteCrew
