Dear football,

Ever since I was a little kid, I played soccer and could never see myself playing anything else — Until 7th grade recess, when I picked up a football and tossed it around with the guys. From that moment on, I never looked back. Most of my core memories come from that field. Now that the season has come to an end, all of a sudden those 7 a.m. practices, late night bus rides, and long film sessions don’t seem so bad anymore. What I would give just to be years younger and fall in love with this sport all over again is unimaginable. Thank you to all of my coaches, family, friends, teammates, and other supporters who helped me become who I am today and helped me strive to be a better person on and off the field. But most importantly, thank you to this sport for showing me what true love really is.

Where do I start…. I’m thankful. Thankful for this sport and all the amazing people it has given me the privilege to meet. It’s hard to accept that this is all really over but all good things must come to an end and unfortunately tonight that’s what happened. My season was ended a while ago when I broke my thumb and had to get surgery but there was always that slim hope that I could come back and play one last time. I wish I could have been out there with my boys tonight or been able to play one last game with them. Thank you to all the amazing people I met and thank you to everyone who’s been in my corner these past 6 years or past 9 years. Football was my first love, and it’s sad to see it end. Thank you to my coaches for teaching me so many lessons about life and just everything you guys have done i appreciate all of you so much. Thank you to my mom and dad for showing me this amazing sport and helping me work to get better at it each and everyday. Thank you to my teammates for everything especially having my back when it came down to it I’ll miss being on the field with each and everyone of you.

Shoutout to the boys in blue for the effort they put into rehabbing from their off-season injuries! Each of them recovered before the first game, which also happened to be Senior Night. It was a great night, winning 52-7!

I’m incredibly proud of these guys and the growth they showed recovering from their injuries - it wasn’t always easy, but it had to be done.

Congratulations boys, and good luck the rest of the season!
