In 1966, 9 Evenings: Theatre and Engineering brought artists together with engineers from Bell Laboratories in New York to explore new possibilities for live performance. The collaboration led to the formation of Experiments in Art and Technology (E.A.T.).

Last weekend, we revisited the spirit of that landmark event with 3 Evenings: Experiments in Performance and Technology at @wappingpowerhouse, inviting artists to explore what it means to work with technology today.

Now, for this episode of The Process, Studios Director @marie_mcpartlin is joined by E.A.T. Director Julie Martin, alongside artists from the 3 Evenings programme, including @gazelletwin, @lawrencelek, @lynn.l.leeson and @team.rolfes. Together, they explore the role of failure in experimentation and whether letting machines break onstage can be an act of subversion.

Listen now as they reflect on the legacy of 9 Evenings and explore how technology continues to shape artistic practice 60 years on -- link in bio.

Can’t believe I finally got see electronic pioneers Cabaret Voltaire @cabaretvoltaireband perform live. They recently reformed for a final 50th-anniversary tour. I was heavily into them throughout the 80’s, but until now had never seen them live. Fantastic performance and set list. Love the venue @roundhouseldn and really enjoyed the support act @gazelletwin

In a caravan much like the one I’m photographed in front of above by @itsemimartin , I wrote and recorded my new album, END TIMES.

These are the albums I was listening to at the time 👇👆

1. Mo Léan by @roismusicroismusic
2. Trilogie de la Mort by Elaine Radigue
3. Eusexua by @fkatwigs
4. Sounds From Dangerous Places by @pbcusack
5. Titanic Rising by @weyesblood
6. 1966 by Karen Dolton
7. Black Dog by @gazelletwin

Some of them clearly shaped the sound world of END TIMES, others maybe just accompanied me on the way.

I don’t know. What do you think?
