ADEL SARVARI
@adel.sarvari

VATANI
@vatani________

Discover 5 unforgettable Iranian film scores that left a lasting impact on cinema🎞️

The Deer (1974)
The score for “The Deer,” composed by Esfandiar Monfaredzadeh, is one of the most iconic and influential works in Iranian cinema. With its fast rhythms and a blend of traditional and modern instruments, the music conveys the tension and inner conflicts of the characters. “The Deer” remains a timeless classic in Iranian social cinema, with its soundtrack holding a lasting legacy.

Life and a Day (2016)
Habib Khazaeifar’s score for “Life and a Day” masterfully captures the dark and complex atmosphere of this social drama. The music, with its combination of string instruments and soft piano strokes, perfectly conveys the anxiety and despair of the characters. It aligns seamlessly with the film’s grim tone and its portrayal of a family struggling with societal issues.

A Separation (2011)
Sattar Oraki’s delicate and emotional score for “A Separation” subtly complements the film’s intricate storyline. The simple, repetitive melodies emphasize the characters’ conflicts and confusion. Alongside the film’s narrative, the music leaves a profound emotional impact on the audience.

Standing in the Dust (2016)
In “Standing in the Dust,” Habib Khazaeifar uses traditional Iranian musical themes and native instruments to create a heroic and emotional score. The soundtrack perfectly matches the film’s war and resistance setting, especially amplifying the dramatic moments. The music plays a significant role in deepening the audience’s emotional connection with the film’s reflective and intense scenes.

Presenting the album "Qaf" by Ghogha Taban: An album featuring 9 tracks that blend social and romantic themes, with special attention to the struggles faced by the people of Afghanistan. Ghogha has been active in music professionally since 2016, and her songs condemn social suffering caused by war, religious fanaticism, and the plight of women and girls. Many of her songs, set to the poetry of Ramin Mazar, have become anthems of resistance for progressive Afghan youth. One of her most famous songs, "I Kiss You Among the Taliban, You’re Not Afraid", with lyrics by Ramin Mazar, stands out as a symbol of defiance.

In 2021, she was named among the 100 most influential and inspiring women by the BBC.

Above the clouds of Tehran, where dreams and memories blend...
Azadi Tower — more than just concrete and curves.
It stands as a symbol of longing, resistance, and the timeless hope for freedom.
In this surreal moment, love finds its own kind of liberty.
Two hearts, one sky, and a monument that has seen it all.

ABBAS KIAROSTAMI

WHEN KHOSRO SHAKIBAI MET JACKIE CHAN

WAR IN IMAGE

Today’s Life and War
