✨British Art Fair — September 2026✨
Location: Saatchi Gallery, Duke of York’s HQ, King’s Road, London SW3 4RY

I organised a private morning visit for the Bank Art Club at the British Art Fair — the UK’s only fair dedicated exclusively to modern and contemporary British art, now in its 35th edition — the morning of the Collector Preview.

And then I went back over the weekend to see more.

Room after room of work that stopped me. A cello painting so full of light and movement, a ceramic vessel covered in a serpent and golden fruit that felt ancient and new at once. A small surrealist oil painting so quiet it whispered. A bronze sculpture reaching upward, restless.

This fair is one of my favourites. Intimate in a way the bigger fairs rarely are. Art does not have to be intimidating — and at this fair, it never feels that way.

Some of our favourite pieces from the British Art Fair 2026 🖼️

So many wonderful works to see, but these were the ones that made us linger just a little longer:

1. John Monks, Ambience – @longandryle
2. Sarah Spencer RAS VPNEAC, Whitstable Seascape, End of Day – @thompsonsgallery
3. Stefan Orlowski, Light behind the eyes – @castlegatehousegallery
4. Gill Rocca, Figment CXXVI – @gbsfineart
5. Joe Tilson, Page 1, Snow White & The Black Dwarf – @jameshymangallery
6. Paul Wright, The Music Room – @thompsonsgallery

Which one is your favourite?

British Art Fair at Saatchi Gallery brings the autumn art season into focus, with leading dealers presenting Modern and Contemporary British art, including galleries from Mayfair and St James’s.

At the collectors’ preview, a few works particularly caught my eye — beginning with Adrian Paul Allinson’s Girl at the Window, presented by Darnley Fine Art, a beautifully observed scene of a woman reading beside an open window, with the English garden beyond.

Among the other discoveries were Beth Carter’s Reading Minotaur VI, presented by Beaux Arts Bath—a powerful bronze that feels like a contemporary dialogue with Picasso’s historic obsession with the mythical beast; Cathy de Monchaux’s Unicorn; Hugo Grenville’s radiant, colorful interiors on view at David Messum Fine Art

There was plenty of art-world energy around the fair too — fine wine, conversations and a distinctly London sense of style, with Renaud eyewear appearing against a backdrop of Iconic Images Gallery’s brilliant photographic display.

A rich cross-section of British art, collecting and London’s cultural scene.

The British Art Fair closes today at 5pm.

By way of explanation…
.
I have had to delete the two previous posts as the interior shot was a ‘snap’ prior to the official photo shoot
.
These three pictures have rather wonderfully found their way over the summer to an apartment in Manhattan, NYC.
How amazing is that!
.
Again, thank you to @gbsfineart, the team at @beyond_print and the intermediary that sourced these work
.
I will post the official photos when released.
Again, with gratitude and apologies

‘FLOW: October - Thames Flood Barrier’ (2026)
C-type print. Digital collage / Image size: 72cm H x 48cm W

October – Thames Flood Barrier: As the river begins to widen to the east of the capital, the warm hues of autumn leaves contrast with the steely grey architecture. The ever-growing skyline of towers around Canary Wharf makes a striking backdrop to the futuristic design of Roger Walter’s Thames Flood Barrier near Woolwich. Operational since 1982 and spanning 520m, the barrier has, so far, protected 125 square kilometres of central London from flooding caused by tidal surges.

An evening among the paintings at the British Art Fair. A particularly beautiful piece by @sublackwellstudio a whole fairy tale cut from the pages of an old book. Thank you to @gbsfineart for inviting us.

‘FLOW: February - Lechlade’ (2026)
C-type print - digital collage / Image size: 72cm H x 48cm W

February – Lechlade: Approximately 20 miles downstream from the source of the Thames, the riverbank and St. Lawrence Church in the Gloucestershire market town of Lechlade (the highest navigable point of the River Thames) are depicted in the picturesque quiet of a winter’s dawn. This bucolic setting, with swans and frost-tipped grasses, already shows signs of human intervention: mooring poles, a discarded bottle and ‘private property’ signage, alongside the medieval church which bears testament to our long historical connection to the river.
