The @thegogomuseum will hold the “For the Love of Go-Go: Hall of Fame Induction Fundraiser” in Wednesday, Oct. 28 • 6 PM - 9 PM. This isn’t simply a fundraiser. It is an investment in preserving the history, culture, sound, and future of Washington, D.C. The museum just hosted our @ausoc @gbsu_au mixer. They’ve been a great community partner. Yesterday, WPS and the GBSU held our collaborative panel “Women in Peace and Security: Women’s Leadership Across Race, History, and Global Practice”! Our panel featured five esteemed speakers sharing their reflections and insights on women’s leadership in foreign policy, national security, and peacebuilding. This event was a powerful way to end our celebration of Black History Month and Women’s History Month and we are incredibly thankful to our panelists and attendees for helping us make it happen! We are also so thankful to @phrcrsis and @sisgraduatecouncil for sponsoring this event!

For today’s PHRCR Black History Month Highlight, we shine a light on the first Pan-African Cultural Festival (PACF). The festival was held in Algeria, a symbolic location due to the armed struggle waged against French colonialism from 1954 to 1962. In 1969, revolutionary movements were unfolding across Africa, as many nations were gaining independence from formal colonial rule, while others continued to fight for their freedom. In support of anti-imperialist and anti-colonial movements across the diaspora, like-minded scholars, political leaders, and artists gathered to advocate for liberation and unity.
