Red Herring II
The second instalment of the Film Noir series kicked off by two sleuths, kiefguru and Lil YamaGucci. This time Lil YamaGucci takes the lead role with support from honoured criminals shinzo, gelato .45, and of course, kiefguru returns for a special mission investigating illegal betting and bribery in the boxing ring.
Spanning from the raw Prohibition-era gangster flicks of the early '20s to the gritty late '70s reinterpretations of the classics, this album rolls out the full crew through rogue roll calls, tommy gun barrages, and shadowy tales of rise and ruin.

This is the first leaked case file from the upcoming project "Red Herring II" - A Film Noir Sequel. Thanks to the detective work of gelato .45 we have been able to establish the whereabouts of the first of many significant locations connected to the recent crime wave sweeping the city, in ways no do-gooder could shake a stick at. Torn between the straight and narrow or the only chance to save their dignity, this tale of two detectives uprooting the evil that lurks in the shadows details just one of many episodes covering topics of espionage, bootlegging, paranoia, embezzlement, corruption, fatalism and more.... Stay tuned for the full feature film featuring multiple co-stars yet to be announced.

I started Entanglements back in 2021 to be my first Phonk record series, and one to have a Valentine’s Day drop. I didn’t know what that’d sound like at the time, and certainly didn’t see it getting this far. The first two being EP’s, Entanglements 3 was a full album and arguably my best body of work to date. Each record has been written differently, in terms of where it’s come from mentally and emotionally.
With the first entry to the series, I was trying to get the love of the Phonk community. The second, I was trying to get the love of a girl. Entanglements 3 was written from the bottom of my heart, madly in love, trying to tell that story and express the hope, optimism and love I had been feeling. Entanglements 4 is my largest and arguably now my best body of work, but written from a much different place than its predecessor. 4 is expressing a lot of different feelings I felt in 3, as so much has changed in just a year.
But that’s okay, because it’s this tangled web we weave called life.
Entanglements 4 opens with the infamous Red Table Talk between Jada & Will, to really lean into the namesake of the series and to highlight the place this record was written from. From there, the listener is taken on an abridged journey of the last few years of my life, and more specifically, the last year.
Things have changed and are always ever-evolving, but the theme of the series remains the same - LOVE.

Immerse yourself in my Entanglements, but “DON’T GET TANGLED UP 😘”

A bit of a late Happy New Year!
The start of 2025 has been a bit rough, so it took me longer than expected to get this one out—but better late than never! Here’s Issue 8!
This time, we’ve got:

@inborn.dsp – TIME TO REST
@gelato.45 – BASKIN ROBBERY
@bigproblemmac – DESOLATE MIXX
@takemetoyostash – TALEZ OV RA
@thephonkshow – WITH INTENTION

As always, these reviews are just my opinion, and are there to offer a fresh perspective for the artist. Feel free to disagree! 🧡
I’ll do my best to get back on track for regular reviews—stay tuned! 🍊
