The 100th release on Static Shock is here! To mark both 15 years of Static Shock and Hygiene, a band that we’ve always held close to our hearts and also one of the earliest bands on the label (SSR005 to be precise), we bring you the 15 Minute City EP. It’s their first release with their latest line up, and easily one of their best. Out now and shipping immediately.

SSR100: HYGIENE – 15 Minute City EP
‘To mark the 15th year of both Static Shock Records and Hygiene, we bring you the '15 Minute City' EP, which is also the 100th release of the label. Has it really been four years since their ‘Private Sector’ album on Upset the Rhythm? In that time the band have had a small tweak in line up with the addition of Lucy from Primetime on bass. Hygiene have returned with their most urgent and essential recordings and not many bands can say that after 15 years. Lead track '15 Minute City’ is an absolute bundle of DIY greatness…it has the chaos and chorus of one the classic 70’s / early 80’s Swell Maps 7”s. ‘L.T.N’ is a robotic and stiff post punk song that doesn’t outlast it's welcome as it lasts just over a minute. Last track ‘Petrol’ is a childlike punk gem that gets stuck in your head after one play. Hygiene are one of the most underappreciated bands in London in 2023.’ (Sean Forbes)

Initially I was going to write a recap of the label but really the only thing I want to say is that for all the work, stress, anxiety, chucking away of money and everything else that goes with it, doing the label is still the coolest thing and I hope it continues for a long time yet. I’ve got a big chunk of releases coming back from the pressing plant in the upcoming months that I’m excited to punish you all with shortly! Thanks to everyone who takes an interest, helps behind the scenes and most importantly checks out the records. Cheers!
