I just LOVE playing with light & shadow ✨

This friend is a phenomenal graphic designer/photographer/artist/H U M A N. She introduced me to the enneagram, which ushered in NECESSARY growth & peace into my life. She has been a support even when months & months go by of not being in touch. She grows & learns & celebrates others, & has said things to me that I’ll never forget.

She once said to me that I am an artist in all that I do. In how I speak to people, how I create, & how I maneuver through this world. And I have never forgotten this. I felt so SEEN.

I don’t know that an insta caption can even remotely do justice to the friend that you are, Kristina

Aristotle has a line about friendship being the generous act of “holding up a mirror to each other” and to that I say 💯

You have been someone who has held one of the clearest, largest, and most disarming mirrors. And in the simplicity of being fully seen & fully loved, I have changed. Changing me was never the goal & that’s probably why it ended up as a result.

We’re not complete opposites from each other, after all it’s our commonalities that brought us together in the first place: creativity being a main one.

I’m not entirely sure what you and I would look like if we were a venndiagram (those two circles that cross over eachother.. you did well at math in school I did not 😜). Butttttt when I stoped living as if I was a whole damn circle within myself & saw my shadows as your strengths, I began the journey of becoming a truer version of myself in my 20’s.

Whether I’m conscious of it or not all the time, most often when I grow towards wholeness, its something I’ve seen exemplified in you.

🔘 Slowly I now seek to understand so that I can also be understood. Being misunderstood is not a way of life. But being understood by everyone is not the goal.

🔘 I listen to both intuition AND reason. I check in with both on a more consistent basis.

🔘 I see the significance in both spontaneity AND stability. Although I’m still apt to ditching routine, but most often to my own demise still 🥸

There are so many things I could list & I’m going to list them for you on paper because we both like lists. That’s one of the things that hangs in the little almond middle of our venndiagram. (And also you’re one of the only people who can read my chicken scratch 🍗)

& while our almond-middle overlaps brought us together, I now think a lot of our unique differences will keep us even more tethered than just having similarities

I love you. (And Matthew & Mando) I don’t know how to end this so I guess we’ll have to keep living it & be friends forever. HAPPY BIRTHDAY 💙
