Do It Together
Pallas Projects 1996–2026
Last week! Exhibition closes this Saturday October 24

A special thank you to Forerunner for softening the corners of our gallery and creating a modular structure to welcome other artist-run practices for our 30th anniversary exhibition. The steel pieces were adapted for each phase and housed the work of Muine Bheag, PUBLICS, Jennie Moran and Kunsthal Gent, as well as a selection of ephemera from past Pallas exhibitions.

Round Your Corners was inspired by Jennie Moran's 'How to Soften Corners', which in turn references Gordon Matta-Clark; and the Forerunner intervention works in her drawing displayed on the steel.

Round Your Corners, 2026
Plasterboard, plaster, wood, white emulsion, dimensions variable

Cat's Paws, 2026
Adaptable galvanised steel scaffold structure, Allen Key couplers, pewter

Forerunner is a collaborative art practice founded by Tom Watt, Tanad Aaron and Andreas Kindler von Knobloch. Combined, their practice presents an ambitious interrogation of objects, environments and uses. Working with everyday or commonplace materials lends the works a familiarity while allowing the freedom to be re-examined in a new and unfamiliar context. This methodology often ends in work whose emphasis is on its production values, be they self-made or factory finished, and a focus on the work’s overall coherent composition. Permanent commissions exist in Dublin, Belfast, The Lake District, Paris and Japan.

In parallel to Do It Together a number of works collected over the years by Pallas’ artistic directors Mark Cullen & Gavin Murphy and curator Eve Woods (often swapped, gifted or exchanged) will be introduced at intervals throughout the run of the exhibition, alongside books, printed matter and other ephemera.

The first flush of these artworks was introduced during the second week of Phase I and will exist in the space until the end of Phase II, traversing the gallery in response to further additions each week.

Gemma Browne
Untitled, 2001
Gemma had a studio in the second Pallas Studios building on Foley St. It was painted immaculately white when she moved in - it was the coolest, cleanest space we had in either of those buildings. Around the time of heroin chic in Face magazine and the like, Gemma worked on a compelling line of vacant eyed models as 10 x 8 painted mugshots. From what I recall Brian and I went splitzies on purchasing one of these works for the Pallas office.

1iing Heaney
Hyper, 2019, Framed rhizo prints
Artist-Initiated Projects, Pallas Projects/Studios (The Coombe)
Taken from 1iings first solo show using a range of mediums from 3D animation to riso print, her exhibition considered digital space as an extension of the geological world. Remote landscapes of the Burren served as a vital backdrop for exploring the interface between the Digital Age and natural world.

Fiona Reilly
The Department of Time Keepers
Periodical Review X
Pallas Projects 2020
Fiona established The Department of Time Keepers, a pseudo Government institution that acted as a site for public thinking on the effect contemporary working conditions have on how we experience time and pose questions surrounding labour and value.
The Department of Time Keepers allocated their time in precise intervals to data sheets that Fiona embroidered into pie charts. These activities were then classified in one of six categories: survival, functional, leisure, paid labour, unpaid labour and other. This participant spent all their time surviving!

You can see more about these exhibitions on our website!

𝐆𝐞𝐦𝐦𝐚 𝐁𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐧𝐞 | 𝘈𝘴𝘩𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘙𝘰𝘴𝘦𝘴
6 August - 5 September 2026

"Flowers are often used as metaphors for young women in poetry and literature. The rapidly fading bloom of a rose and its comparison to the fleeting beauty of youth is contemplated and critiqued by Browne’s paintings. Her pools and patches of pink and brown paint fluidly combine, like makeup, to describe the skin of the women, who in Blossoms, Amber and True stare intensely in close-up."
