Allina Liu SS27, The Clearing
September 12th, 2026

"The Clearing sits somewhere between exposure and protection. Between being lost and choosing to get lost."

It's been awhile since I've attended NYFW, and this year's return marked a homecoming to the city after a summer away. This presentation captures the quiet tension that exists before we find ourselves somewhere new— somewhere else.

A forest was projected onto blank walls in Manhattan's Chinatown, far from any tangible trees. Chinese knots, climbing ropes, and carabiners were interspersed with ruffled layers, delicate bows, and lace detailing. Models stood completely still for two hours on mossy pedestals as waves of visitors came and went, quietly around the perimeter at first— and later, flashing cameras and smiles, weaving in unmarked patterns.
__

Thank you to @allina.liu for your kindness and generosity in having me as part of the team. Congratulations to everyone on a great presentation, and for making it all happen.

The Clearing. SS27, NYFW.
This season came from a very personal place, shaped by climbing, getting lost, finding footing again, and learning what remains after something has been stripped away. I wanted fewer looks, less waste, and less fuss. Throughout the design process, I kept coming back to one question: would I wear this? If the answer was no, the sketch was cut. Chinese knot cutouts, climbing rope, carabiners, and technical fabrics became a language of protection, tension, and release, and my favorite concept in a long time.

I’m forever grateful to everyone who helped bring this little, uncanny, world to life. Thank you to my incredible team, collaborators, models, friends, sponsors, and everyone who came to spend a moment in The Clearing with us. We made it through🌲.
