Discover an exceptional opportunity to acquire “David,” a striking original oil-on-canvas portrait by Gem Van Gils (@gemvangils) a self-taught Wiltshire-based portrait artist. While using the traditional medium of oil on canvas, Gem Van Gils also introduces modern, graphic elements and boldly-coloured backdrops to her paintings. Creating fragmented faces with elements of negative space. Her subjects feature a collection of interesting characters from indie icons like David Bowie to cult classic personas like Patrick Bateman. These can also be seen in her work as a tattoo artist at Swindon/based studio, Strange Ways Tattoo on Victoria Hill. “David” continues this series with quiet intensity: a contemplative, characterful likeness rendered against a soft blue ground, accented by subtle green foliage that lends both elegance and symbolic depth. Gem (full name Gemma, using the Dutch surname Van Gils in honour of her late nan) holds a BA Hons in History of Art. Her work is held in private collections worldwide. This is a rare chance to own an original piece by an emerging artist whose practice bridges historical understanding of portraiture with a contemporary, personal vision. Bid with confidence knowing you are supporting a dedicated painter whose work is already available through her website and who actively invites dialogue with collectors via Instagram and Facebook. Don’t miss the opportunity to bring this distinctive, personality-rich portrait into your collection. Aren’t these images so cool from our first market Still feels a bit surreal that this all started with a small showcase and turned into something so special. The community, the vendors, the vibe — exactly what Sainte is all about. Now we go again for the 7th time! Vendor applications are open for our next really cool location at DEYA taproom. Apply via the website — link in bio. Photographer @felixrussellsaw

Your feed is probably full of Christmas gift guides already…but we wanted to share one that’s a little closer to home. 🎄 Swindon (and the villages around it) are full of brilliant small businesses, the kind that make Christmas shopping just a bit more special. Here’s our Peach Picks for this year:
Upgrade your Christmas picky bits with a personalised serving board from @thecustomcraftingco perfect for the host-with-the-most.
@hannahmcdanielsonjewellery creates the most beautiful pieces. The birthstone necklaces are one of our favourites.
The soaps and self-care treats from @cabinandcowshed are ideal for anyone wanting a slow January.
@lowkeylimited make 100% natural skin balms that feel like a little bit of luxury everyday. You can’t go wrong with a hand-poured candle. @sundayseasoncandle is a Peach favourite…they’re all beautiful but Cashmere & Amber would be our top choice.
@gemvangils creates incredible portraits that brighten any wall. A proper stand-out gift.
@terrific_truffles01 for the tastiest treats. Orders are open until Dec 13th or find them at Wanborough Farmers Market on the 20th (go for the double chocolate. Trust us.)
Christmas isn’t Christmas without a glass of fizz. We’ll be toasting with @poultonhillestate Bulari sparkling this year.
For a fun stocking filler, we love this “Old Bag” teabag dish from @oohlovelyliloceramics These are our favourites, but if you’ve got any other brilliant small biz recommendations, drop them in the comments. Happy shopping 🎁🧡🍑

That’s a wrap on the first @saintemarket at @fireandflowcoffee 👏🏼 We spent the day meeting the lovely owners behind the brands, making sure they were fuelled with coffee through our sponsorship and enjoying the brilliant atmosphere. A massive congratulations to @saintemarket for ripping up the rule book and creating an event full of personality, gorgeous branding and a killer lineup for visitors to shop and enjoy. So happy to be part of the day and we can’t wait to see what’s next for @saintemarket 🫶🏼 #artisanmarket #saintemarket #remyrewards #loyaltyapp #independentbusinesses #smallbusinesssupportingsmallbusiness #supportlocal #cotswoldbusiness #cotswoldmarket #coffee #shopsmall #indiemakers
