Ghana was the office last month. 🇬🇭
A cohort of Pan-African producer-director teams, instructors and guest speakers who gave everything they had, and a room that kept proving; knowledge share and collaboration are the frontier. @arthomastv @docraimist Thank you for being so generous with your lives and earned experiences and for creating such an intentional curriculum. 🙏🏽Being Implementing Partner and Producing this alongside my girl @dorinaamina was one for the books 🫶🏼🤗 🥂 Creative time with creative outliers is my favourite kind of work, and everyone showed up and showed out!!!!
This is also where I met @sidrasmithofficial 🫶🏼 and @paulgarnes and got to watch him and the homie @quanphung sit with creatives from Ghana and share so generously. Talked Paul into coming to Kenya. He pulled up and had some really insightful conversations with creative entrepreneurs here. The first of many.
And as always, my Fairy Glam-sisters @houseofzippy kept the fits on code the whole way through.

Reunited in Accra. 🫶🏽

Sea friends are forever friends. 🌊 Semester at Sea 🌊

I was blessed to reunite with my dear friends @akosuabusia and @abenapabusia while in Ghana. (& We got to recreate some of our favorite photo moments!) Akos generously spoke to the ACTV Directing Lab about acting, her filmmaking work, working with directors and living a creative life. 🇬🇭 ❤️

From honest discussions about funding and distribution to the future of global storytelling and the creator economy, I left feeling even more hopeful about what’s possible for Africa’s creative future. ✨

I had such a magical time in Accra with ACTV. It felt like I’d wandered into a fantasy novel. Except instead of slaying dragons, we were discussing directing processes with @docraimist and @arthomastv unpacking story structures and motivations with @ava ,laughing with @michellebuteau , and trading some of the most invaluable producing and distribution notes with @paulgarnes … bonus? Doing it all with incredible filmmakers from across the continent. Turns out the fairy dust they write about in fantasy novels looks a lot like generous people who believe stories can change the world.

I’m still trying to find the words for everything ACTV and Accra gave me, but until then... here are a few stills from a chapter I’ll be rereading for a very long time.

A heartfelt thank you to ACTV @dorinaamina @beckymuikia I left inspired, challenged and reminded why I fell in love with storytelling and filmmaking in the first place. @the_nomojo thank you for you for trusting me.

What an extraordinary journey. ❤️
(p.s Gene i know this isn’t concise and there are too many words but allow it just this once 😭)

Being selected as part of the Africa Creative Television (ACTV) Directing Workshop cohort is something I will carry with me for the rest of my career.

When @geneadu asked me to join him on this journey as his producer, I knew it would be special. I didn’t know it would fundamentally change the way I think about filmmaking. Thank you for trusting me, challenging me and choosing to take this leap together. 🫂❤️

Over the course of this workshop I’ve been reminded that great storytelling is not an individual pursuit. Great projects are built on trust, communication, shared vision and collaboration. As a producer I left with a much deeper appreciation for the director-producer relationship not simply as two different roles but as a true creative partnership.

Our incredible instructors, @docraimist and @arthomastv didn’t just teach us the craft they shared their wisdom and experience, with generosity and complete honesty.
Their mentorship (done with such intentionality) created a space where every participant felt seen, challenged and inspired. I will forever be grateful.💕✨

It was equally inspiring to hear from trailblazers who have helped redefine what is possible for storytellers of African descent around the world. Thank you @ava , @michellebuteau , @paulgarnes , @sidrasmithofficial , @akosuabusia and @quanphung for sharing your journeys so openly. Listening to your experiences reminded me that our stories deserve to be told boldly, authentically and on a global stage.🙏🏽✨

To our captain and co-captain, @dorinaamina and @beckymuikia Ughhhhh thank you, Thank you thank you! Your tireless work behind the scenes made this experience possible. You led with kindness and an unwavering belief in each of us.
We are all better because of your leadership.

Some evenings remind you why stories matter. And tonight was one of them. ✨

Inside @akunapod in Accra, Ghana we gathered with an extraordinary group of filmmakers from Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa for a watch party of the Season 3 premiere of Survival of the Thickest.

Then @MichelleButeau joined us… and instantly the room lit up.

She was hilarious. Honest. Generous. Every answer felt like an invitation to dream a little bigger, trust your instincts a little more, and keep telling the stories only you can tell.

By the end of the conversation, the distance between Accra and Hollywood didn’t feel so far after all.

Michelle, thank you for showing up so fully—with your joy, your wisdom, and your heart. You reminded all of us that our greatest stories begin the moment we believe in them.

To every filmmaker in that room—and to the incredible team at ACTV and @beckymuikia thank you for showing us what’s possible when extraordinary talent meets generosity, collaboration, and joy.

The future of storytelling feels incredibly bright. Tonight, it felt more connected than ever. ❤️
