New Pairing 🍐: Fun one recently with @72andsunny_, helping out on a @google project in partnership with @netflix’s @obx.

Every once in a while, the music search gives you a little confirmation that you’re on the right track. This was one of those times. The Netflix creative lead and I independently landed on @generationals’ 2013 song “Put A Light On,” which ultimately became the closing cue in the spot.

Always a good sign when everyone seems to be hearing the same thing in a song. Happy to have played a part in this one.

Album Review #19 of 2026

Generationals - Heza (2013)

Genre: Indie Pop

Inject that surf style rock straight into my veins. If the opening track doesn’t grab your attention then I don’t know what to tell you. This genre of music is my Kryptonite. That’s exactly what this album is. I’ve come to really love this band over the last year or so. Started listening with their most recent albums Reader As Detective (2019) and then Heatherhead (2023). Now starting to dive further into their discography. So many great guitar riffs and melodies on each track. The opening track Spinoza is a perfect example of this. The layered, fast paced, yet spacey, sounding guitars with the vocals is perfection. The track I Never Know has a cool almost Spoon like influence to it and I love it.
Put a Light On is easily the most recognizable track on this album and for good reason. It’s super catchy and bright. Grooving bass, a punchy drum beat, and fun bell kit to go along with. There’s a reason this song currently has over 100M streams on Spotify. Lastly, I really enjoy the closing track Durga II. A slower track that’s driven by some nice guitar picking. I think wraps up the album nicely. A solid album from this band. Give it a listen. Let me know what you think.

Slightly off-kilter pop for the curious mind, this Curated Station from indie pop artist Andrew Wangemann blends his own introspective, melodic, slightly left-of-center originals with a thoughtful mix of Twenty One Pilots, Labrinth, BENEE, AJR, Fiona Apple, and more! For bookworms, overthinkers, and anyone who likes their pop a little weirder and a little deeper. Listen link in bio!
