💿 VANGUARD VAULTS #042 💿 ☀️ Sunshine in a record groove 🌞 🎵 D.Kay – It’s On The Way 📀 Soul:R | 2004 There are certain Drum & Bass records that seem to carry their own weather, and It’s On The Way is pure summer. Vienna’s D.Kay delivered one of the defining soulful rollers of the early-2000s Soul:R era: warm chords, effortless drums, a beautifully understated bassline and that unforgettable vocal reassuring us that “love is on the way.” The vocal originates from Big Moses feat. Kenny Bobien’s Brighter Days, bringing genuine gospel-house soul into the heart of a Drum & Bass record 😎 Although the vinyl arrived as SOULR011 in January 2004, the tune was already doing serious damage throughout 2003. Marcus Intalex included it on his landmark Soul:ution Volume 1 mix that September, and surviving rave and radio tracklists show it circulating heavily before release. It became a perfect snapshot of what Soul:R represented deep, musical Drum & Bass that could move a dancefloor without sacrificing an ounce of soul. D.Kay was flying at the time too: just months earlier, his collaboration Barcelona with Epsilon & Stamina MC had reached 14 in the UK Singles Chart and 1 on the UK Dance Chart 📈 🇯🇪 Vanguard Archives: Soul:R will always hold a special place in our story.
