We attended the @eminorthrecords x @notionliveevents as part of @generatorhq’s @mercuryprize Fringe Week, and caught up with some of our favourite artists, managers, and promoters from the region to ask about their thoughts on the awards returning to Newcastle and who they think is going to win it in 2026? 🎤👀

A lot of love for @knatsncl ❤️

Full circle moment ✨💜

Newcastle, what a great experience! Loved being part of The Pivot Panel & having the opportunity to reflect on my journey in the industry, including my early days as Wale’s assistant stylist back in ’98.

So special to look back on those moments, share some of the lessons along the way & connect with such an inspiring room of people.

Loved the energy, the conversations & the warm welcome. Newcastle, thank you for the love! 💜💜💜

We’re Northern Hospitality.

We don’t have a million monthly listeners. We’re not household names. But we’ve played across the UK, had our music on Radio X four times, hit number one on radio in Australia, supported industry giants, and released music we’re genuinely proud of.

We’ve built a community that keeps growing, from Hartlepool, Teesside, to all corners of the world.

Breaking into music isn’t easy. The system doesn’t always give everyone a chance. But you don’t need permission to start, and you don’t need to be chosen to make something happen.

We’ve got no secret formula. We just keep showing up, making music and building, even when there’s no money, no time, and no guarantee it’ll work.

Because that’s the reality. Things go wrong. Progress is slow. Sometimes it feels like nobody’s watching.

You do it anyway.

And if there’s one thing we want people to take from our journey, it’s this:

You don’t need to be famous. You don’t need to have it all figured out. You just need to start, believe in what you’re doing, and keep going when it gets hard.

We’re Northern Hospitality. We’re still building.

And you can do this too. #hardwork #northern #altrock #teesside #rockmusic

It’s great to see the Mercury Prize return to Newcastle. The collaboration between Mercury Prize Fringe and Grainger Market has brought some of the very best local talent to the beating heart of the city and we've loved supporting the event.

We’re looking forward to tomorrow’s award ceremony and celebrating the UK’s music industry and talent.

I continue to be plagued with slightly dodgy camera skills but last night I got the opportunity to attend the @bbcintroducing showcase from The Glasshouse as part of the Mercury Prize Fringe - all the artists were incredible, and it was such a brilliant night curated by @shakkmusic !!
