Another week down… ONE MORE TO GO 😭 simultaneously excited for summer but SO SAD for school to end :( this week we slayed:
- @preludedanceuga show!!! Best day of the year
- digi dawg end of year celebration!!! Loved meeting all the newbies (yall are SO not ready for their content ideas)
- last biochem 4020 lecture 🎉
- LAST BIOCHEM 4020 EXAM YESSSS AND LAST ALL NIGHTER (for this semester….)
- snelling chicken and waffles night (best night of the year tbh)
- SNACKS WITH PRESIDENT MOREHEAD!
- last @genesatuga event of the semester 😔 I love my exec board!
- TONS of studying (my brain is fried)

Your girl’s been busy so here’s your weekly recap!!!
- PRELUDE BAKE SALE!! One of our annual fundraising events for my dance group @preludedanceuga
- spoke on the panel for Georgia women give! Genuinely met some of the kindest women and role models ever!!! (More content to come 😉)
- walked in the out of the darkness walk! This is something I’ve partaken in since freshman year it is such a community building and uplifting experience I highly recommend ❤️
- lots of pretty weather and pretty skies
- arch love!!! (Come watch us at the dance battle this Friday!!!)
- prelude dance pics!!! (Again more to come hehe)
- GENES club meeting!! @genesatuga
- met with a career consultant @ugacareercenter and she was the best!!! (Ignore how tired I look in the picture I’m not a morning person)

Life update!!! (Also stay tuned exciting news coming out on Monday 🤫 you might’ve already heard but GET EXCITED!)
This week I:
- had my last shift working as a medical scribe at Piedmont!! One of the most educational and rewarding jobs I’ve ever had!
- kept bonding with my DC 25 fam ❤️
-kept studying obviously
- enjoyed the SUN ☀️
- had fun in lab :)
- GENES club discussion was awesome! @genesatuga
- used a zoom booth for the first time?!! It felt like I was on a plane it was so cool!
- obviously got Taco Bell @tacobell please sponsor me I’m begging you

Dr. Todd Little-Siebold, "The Lost Ancestors: Apples, History and DNA"

Join historian turned genetic detective Todd Little-Siebold for a talk on the use of traditional techniques of historical research alongside genomic profiling to historic mysteries about the introduction of European fruit crops to North America. In Georgia the iconic peach became a central crop for native communities long before Europeans settled. Apples arrived in America apparently as early as the 1530s Through genetic analysis to recreate the family tree of all known apples researchers have discovered that almost all early American apples have French parentage. Why is this? It is an unexpected empirical reality that requires explanation. As we try to reconstruct the introduction of European food crops, especially fruit trees, it is fascinating to explore the line between that which is documented in the genome of apples (the archive of DNA) and the earliest histories of contact, exchange and eventually settlement. Who were the French grandparents and what lines of historical research could shed light on their arrival in the New World?"
