I almost missed the biggest opportunity of my entire career. And the reason why is honestly ridiculous. 📸😳

It was my best friend’s bachelor’s weekend. My phone had been dead basically the whole time. We sit down at a restaurant, I charge it, and a message from 9 that morning loads. The PFL is looking for a photographer. Are you available? 🥊

My heart dropped. I called back at 2pm. Too late, they had found someone. But the guy gave me one shot. Be at the seminar on Wednesday and I will introduce you. 🙏

So I took unpaid leave and showed up. There was already a photographer there. But I had my camera and I shot my heart out. I edited on the spot, sent them live, stepped up for the group photo when their shooter left. 💪

Weeks later, Eric handed me a Cape Town PFL hoodie, looked at me and said, at the end of the month you are going to Joburg to shoot for the PFL. I cried like a baby. 🥹

I almost missed all of it because my phone was dead. So show up. Every single time.

💾 Save this, and tell me about a time showing up changed everything for you. 👇

Belfast was an incredible time🥹shoutout to the @titanicbelfast museum, yall did an incredible job. I never stopped to think about the devastation the people who built the ship must have felt when it sank; all those man hours, 3 million rivets that were hammered in by hand by a 5 person team. You were paid by the rivet, not by the hour. Incredible. The pride of Belfast is real. Thank you for the memories and as always, shoutout to @pflmma the fights were sick too ❤️ #forevergrateful

When you know what it’s like to fall, you respect any man that keeps showing up.

“The righteous falls seven times and rises again.”
Proverbs 24:16

To step into enemy territory against a city’s beloved son is not an easy task but a great honor.

When we hear Theodore Roosevelt speak of the man in the arena, let’s never forget we are the ones “marred by dust and sweat and blood.”

Whether our failures were seen by the world, by a few, or by no one at all… we’ve all had our moments.

I faced a man in Dalton Rosta who is fully himself. A man who came to fight.

I will always respect the man who steps across from me, knowing what this costs, with the intent to give everything.

This is more than a sport. The consequences can be immediate and they will be long-term.

Yet the few of us who walk forward when the cage door closes… we accept that.

There is nothing like it. It’s pure. It’s honest. And it teaches you everything about yourself.

Dear Dalton , thank you for coming to fight.

We all fall short at times in life, but failure gives us the opportunity to rise again.

It was an honor to step into your city. Like you said, you have an army behind you and they’re still with you.

To bring that kind of energy, in front of your people, and go forward from the very beginning with the intent to kill that’s something I’ll always respect.

Rest, recover, and come back stronger.

“We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; for he today that sheds his blood with me shall be my brother…”
William Shakespeare

Those of us who get to do this at the highest level are few and far between.

It was an absolute honor to go to war with you in the Smart Cage.

Your worth isn’t in a crowd, a fight, or a record. You are seen, and you are loved by Jesus unconditionally.

The path of Hercules is not easy respect to the man who walks it.

With great respect,
Impa Kasanganay

Last class in the Blue Basement (at least for the time being). Missing a bunch of people in these photos but I am eternally grateful for all of the professors and training partners that I’ve had in the 5 years that I have trained here.
This will always be home and I will always proudly say that I had the honor of training in the house that @renzograciebjj built.

A few frames from a photoshoot with @dakotaditcheva for @pflmma a few weeks ago. Spend the day with a most excellent crew in the desert outside of Dubai shooting / filming Dakota hitting pads, rallying the dunes in a side-by-side and boarding the straight aways. 10 out of 10 would recommend @visit.dubai!
