Artwork for @thehunnaband by Steve Hyland (@geometriclove_) for @believemusic_uk⁣ ⁣ This was a project that developed through late 2019 into early 2020, explains Steve.⁣ ⁣ “The band were looking for something moody and atmospheric, they also had some props in mind. I suggested a neon noir approach that offset the darkness, as well as graffiti and more urban iconography.”⁣ ⁣ “I created numerous moodboards ranging from Grindhouse, Tarantino-inspired typography through to neon and gangster rap insignia.”⁣ ⁣ “As is often the case many of these ideas fell by the wayside as the core concept emerged of the singer in front of an isolated red door. I also created the monogram that appears throughout the artwork.”⁣ ⁣ Steve began his music design career in the 90's designing sleeves for EMI accounts such as Capitol, Food, Parlophone, Echo and Zomba.⁣ ⁣ "I created campaigns and sleeve design for artists such as Foo Fighters, Supergrass, Radiohead, Robbie Williams and Feeder. I progressed onto Sony Music in 2000 and was responsible for packaging and marketing numerous artists across labels such as S2, Columbia, INCredible, Epic and Sony Jazz."⁣ ⁣ Steve subsequently worked for a wide range of music labels, as well as spreading his wings into other sectors including galleries, museums and education.⁣ ⁣ "I am currently enjoying working with record companies such as Believe, Bleep, A Strangely Isolated Place, Touched, Analogical Force, Neo Ouija, Well Street Records, Future Massive and FSOL Digital. I am an avid follower of music and design, having co-founded Ai Records and Future Massive record labels and run the design studio Geometric Love. I design experimental type and illustration and also create motion graphics and adverts for releases and branding."⁣ ⁣ Follow Steve 👉 @geometriclove_

We’ve been doing the Friendly ‘Version’ logos for a while now, some make it on to a t-shirt, some are just inspired good fun... All are ace and we love doing them... We’ve started to have all kinds of people sending us ideas for a new Friendly ‘Mash Up’ so we thought we’d throw it open and run a competition! Send us your ideas and we’ll post them up on here and decide on a winner! They don’t have to be music related, just a darn good logo turned Friendly!! - The winning designer will get their shirt printed and we’ll donate the profits to a charity of their choice! All submissions to tom@friendlyrecords.co.uk Please share this with anyone you think would be interested in taking part! #friendlyrecords #bristol #bootlegtshirt #mashup #bristolart #bristolartists
