You do not become a more accurate shooter by getting better at aiming!!! You become more accurate by detaching any concentration away from the aim and directing that concentration into the shot activation movement........whatever that movement is for you. Just getting to the point where you can evaluate a shot enough to recognize an error and let the shot down is a HUGE step. It is one of the first steps on the path to shot control. However, once you are able to recognize an error, understand that there are choices that can be made. You can choose to let down if the situation allows, or you can choose to fight if that is the only option. The most important point is that you are controlled enough to EVALUATE the shot WITHIN the shot. Both choices need to be practiced so you continue to have those options in high stress events. #ShotIQ #controlledprocessshooting

I can’t believe I am saying this, as I was a major proponent of it in the past, but, STOP LETTING DOWN SO MUCH!!!!!! Letting down should only be used if there is some catastrophic error in the shot like major wind, someone bumping you on the line, weird sounds on your bow, or the shot is way too stale to hit anywhere close to the spot. Think about it, if you let down and quit the shot every time you detect a slight error in thought, your subconscious mind will use whatever that problem is as a bail out. Your subconscious does not want to create and deal with an explosion, therefore it will do whatever it can to get you to quit on the shot. If you find yourself constantly letting down, that means you are still relying on the process to work for you. You are approaching the shot with wonder and hope. You still wonder if it’s going to go well.......it’s NOT!!! Learn to fight through those shots.....if the pin falling out and locking off usually makes you let down,,,,,you will be stuck in that problem until you fight through a few of those shots. If the pin falls off and locks off, reset it, give the conscious mind another HERE I GO to bring you back into the present, then move on to the concentration piece in the shot activation movement. Stop letting the subconscious have its way, it doesn’t want you to shoot your bow. Approach each shot with determination instead of hope and wonder!!!! #ShotIQ #controlledprocessshooting

Those of you that just shot IBO Trad Worlds,,,,I salute you!!! I wish I could have been there with you. If you are happy with your performance, BLUEPRINT THE SHOT!!! Especially when you felt the nerves, WHAT DECISIONS DID YOU MAKE??? If you are not happy with your performance, or something happened to your mind on that final day.....BLUEPRINT THOSE SHOTS!!!! Find the fail points. DO NOT RELY ON THE PROCESS!!! The process can only exist if you consciously MAKE IT EXIST!!! The skill is not hitting the target, the skill is not even in shooting the shot, the true skill lies in putting your mind to work FOR YOU!!!! The true skill is reaching into that mental mess and pulling out the conscious mind, stick it where it needs to be, and make it work!!! Those skills take determination, decisions, presence, and concentration..... #ShotIQ #controlledprocessshooting #lovemywengerdbows
