Meet our coach Georgia! Georgia somehow manages to fit more into a week than most people do in a year. She’s our coach, a qualified vet, and somehow still finds time to represent New Zealand on the world stage in multiple sports. Straight after coaching us, she’s off to Spain to compete at the Sprint Distance Triathlon World Championships and the Ironman 70.3 World Championships. Oh, and if that wasn’t enough, she’s also an elites gold medallist in underwater hockey. Apparently being elite at one sport just wasn’t challenging enough.

When she’s not coaching or saving animals, Georgia is powered by pure golden retriever energy. She’s permanently enthusiastic, always on the move, and somehow has the personality of both a boomer and a 10-year-old at exactly the same time. Expect elite dad jokes, questionable humour, and laughing at things that probably shouldn’t be funny.

The scary part is that she somehow excels at every single one of those things. Coaching, veterinary medicine, underwater hockey, triathlon… she doesn’t seem to have an off switch. Yet somehow she still turns up to every session with the same enthusiasm, energy and belief in us as she does on day one and always knows exactly what we need to hear. We genuinely couldn’t ask for a better person to have leading this team.

ICC Recap 🖤🤍🌿
Still sitting with alllllll the emotions of the final — so here’s a little attempt to put it all into words:

Beating the reigning world champs in the longest game in international UWH history (30min game, 2x5min OT + 30min sudden death 😵‍💫) is genuinely the kind of final I would’ve dreamed of. It tested every bit of physical and mental strength I had — and reminded me just how incredible this team is.

Looking back, this campaign felt so different to last year. I came into it with a better mindset around training and nutrition, and while I may look a little different now (the shoulders might’ve grown a bit 👀🥴), the real growth wasn’t physical. Thinking back to my first trials in 2023(and first time being dropped), I’d like to think I’m a better player than I was at 17 — but what I’m most proud of is my ability to back myself when I need to, but also accepting that I still have a hell of a lot to learn. I’ve realised that taking help and advice from people who know more than you isn’t a weakness — it’s actually a strength. And I’m very lucky to be surrounded by some pretty incredible people who’ve helped me see that.

I feel so lucky to be part of a team full of girls I adore and look up to so much — people who never made me question my place, and always made me feel like I belonged. That kind of support and connection made this whole experience even more special. We did exactly what we came to do, and I wouldn’t trade a second of it.

The post-tourney blues are very real and not totally sure what the next goal is yet — but whether it’s UWH or something else, I’m so bloody excited.

>>lol peep 14 year old Georgie at the end🥹
