Hacer el quehacer

The cleansing ritual in low salsa playing in the kitchen.
Cold water for the ghost that lives in the old tiled floor.
A magician, a teacher, when talking to the plants that have stayed alive due to the old poetry about humans born from corn.
Now, in cracked hands from soap- there is no land, there is no tongue to feel like you see someone you may know.
Not the braids, not the land.
The hearts of lost daughters who kept your house alive.
