Work has commenced on a new sculpture of mine. The folded, draped surfaces of this sculpture reflect my continued interest in Henry Moore’s Sleeping Shelter drawings made during the Second World War. In those works, bodies sheltering in the London Underground are concealed and revealed through layers of blankets and clothing, transforming drapery into both protection and abstraction. Similarly, my sculpture avoids anatomical description, allowing the body to emerge through pressure, enclosure, and void. The folds act as spatial membranes rather than garments, expressing vulnerability and resilience. These layered forms also resonate with the protective, wind-responsive drapery of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part One, linking wartime memory to contemporary visions of survival and endurance. #dune #monumentalsculptures #drapery #biomorphicart #hybridforms @royal_sculptors @alumni.rca @john_atkin_ @exploreartproject @gesture_artgallery @aart_publicartcompany @brit_visualarts @yspsculpture @sculpture.source @nashersculpturecenter @nikolajkunsthal

Also from twenty years ago is this sculpture of mine, The Signaller, which remains in place to the present day. The form is derived from tailors’ patterns—the flat templates used to cut and assemble garments—translated here into a three-dimensional, architectural presence. Slots, perforations and seams remain visible, evoking darts, notches and stitch lines. Identity here is presented not as a seamless whole, but as something constructed over time: layered, fitted, revised and held together through visible joins. The weathering Corten skin speaks of endurance and lived experience, while the stainless-steel details introduce moments of clarity and articulation—points of emphasis that punctuate the surface like pauses or accents in speech. #therushes #cortensteelsculpture #landmarksculpture #publicartprojects #sculpturepark #humanidentity @royal_sculptors #chelseaartsclub #rcaalumni #urbanarts #artcommission #sculpturecommission @john_atkin_ @sculpturenetwork #internationalsculturecenter @gesture_artgallery #artagency @sculpture.source @sculpturecenter #sculpture_magazine @sculptureinthecity @rcasculpture #stanleypickergallery @artconsultant @aart_publicartcompany #artadvisor @kunstglstrand

Working with sanguine conté allows me to “model” on paper as I might in clay into bronze: pushing forward, pulling back, hollowing and thickening the form through additive and subtractive gestures. The velvety warmth of the medium parallels the tactile materiality of my sculptural surfaces, while the erased halos act like soft reflections, akin to the way light grazes the curves of polished bronze. #drawingandsculpture #worksonpaper #bronzesculpture #contécrayon #sanguinedrawing #drawingsofinstagram @royal_sculptors @royalacademyarts @alumni.rca @sculpturenetwork @aart_publicartcompany #chelseaartsclub #drawingroom #trinitybuoywharfdrawingprize #londondrawinggroup #visualart_makers #studiopractice @ascstudios #corkstreetgalleries #waddingtoncustot #kingstonschoolofart #artadvisors #alumnirca

This sculpture of mine rises in a continuous spiral of motion, its bronze surface folding and unfurling like a current of air or fabric caught mid-drift. The form seems to hover between solidity and movement - a gesture caught in time. #kunstgalerie #royalsocietyofsculptors #esculturas #sculpturelovers #artpark #kunsthausbregenz #sculpturepark #chelseaartsclub @royal_sculptors @royalacademyschools @alumni.rca @stanleypicker @gesture_artgallery @thecollectorsatelier_zurich @the_meridian_arts_club_london

Interview with a Sculpture
Photographed by Iris, this quiet moment feels like a conversation between maker and form. The sculpture’s surface has been gently sanded down, its skin soft with possibility. I’m caught in thought—listening, perhaps, for what the work wants to become next. @nobulondonportman @royal_sculptors @lborouniversity @gesture_artgallery @chelseaartsclub #chelseaartsclub @lborofinearts #bernardjacobsongallery @stanleypicker #kingstonschoolofart @ascstudios #henrymoorefoundation #yorkshiresculpturepark #artpark #kunstgalerie #artcritic #bronzesculpture @archbronze @aart_publicartcompany #artmagazines #contemporaryartcurator @guangdongmuseumofart

Interview with a sculpture. This is an earlier stage of my 4-meter tall sculpture prior to finishing the sanding of surfaces and patination of the sculpture. My thanks to Iris for taking this picture, which looks as though I was in-dialogue with the artwork! #bronzesculpture #seaslug #contemporaryarts #artecontemporânea #publicartprojects #sculpturecommission #landmarksculpture @gesture_artgallery @royal_sculptors @chelseaartsclub @aart_publicartcompany @rcasculpture @alumni.rca #henrymoorefoundation #yorkshiresculpturepark #hepworthwakefield #tatebritain #artcurators #artcollector @tsinghua_uni #sculpturemagazine #internationalsculpturecenter #visualartwork #artmagazines #studioart #stanleypickergallery #londonartscene #londongalleries #cantoneseopera

The largest bronze sculpture I have created to date, this new work continues a series developed over the past year exploring ideas of movement, balance, and sculptural form. Inspired by the Water Sleeve Dancer of Cantonese Opera, the piece captures the grace and fluidity of performance translated into bronze.

The design and aesthetic of the flowing sleeves evoke waves or drifting clouds, their contours suggesting a sense of motion as if swaying gently in the wind. Through this synthesis of gesture and material, transforming fleeting movement into a permanent sculptural presence — a meditation on rhythm, breath, and the poetics of form. @chelseaartsclub @royal_sculptors @lborouniarts @lborouniversity @gesture_artgallery #landmarksculpture #publicartworks #bronzesculpture @aart_publicartcompany #kunstgalerie #sculpturepark #esculturas #artpark #sculpturemagazine @stanleypicker #kingstonschoolofart @rcasculpture @rcaalumniassociation #henrymoorefoundation #ysp #chineseopera #artandmovement #mayfairart #londonartdealers #artcuratorlondon #artjournals
