In the last two years, over 70 million warnings were sent to people searching for illegal images of children online.

That's 95,000 alerts. Every. Single. Day.

Project Intercept, run by the Lucy Faithfull Foundation, works quietly in the background on platforms like Meta, TikTok and Google. It identifies the warning signs. It intercepts the journey. It offers a way out.

I want to be honest with you: not enough people are taking that way out. Only around 1% clicked through to access support. That is a problem we need to talk about.

But here's what I actually want you to take from this.

This exists. It works. And it proves that tech companies can step up when they choose to.

AI is making the threat worse. The same technology being used to create harm is also being used to stop it. That's where we are in 2026.

The conversation we need to be having at home, at school, around the dinner table, hasn't changed. Open. Honest. Non-judgemental. That is still the best protection we have for our children.

If any child is worried about something they've seen or experienced online, they don't need to face it alone.

The hardest part isn't the conversation. It's starting it.

Most parents I work with put this off because they're worried they'll say the wrong thing. But here's the truth, your child doesn't need a perfect parent. They need an approachable one.

You don't need a script. You don't need to know every app on their phone. You just need to ask. What are you playing? Who are you talking to? Make it a normal part of your week, not a one-off event.

Because when something does go wrong online, and for some kids it will, you want them to already know they can come to you. Without hesitation. Without fear.

That's the only thing that matters.
