Why is there kiwi in our Salsa Verde?

Welcome to Get Saucy Ingredient Science, where we’ll break down the flavor and function of the ingredients in our sauces.

Traditional salsa verde gets its tangy flavor from tomatillos. Instead, we use kiwi to create a nightshade free salsa with that same acidity and brightness, plus a little subtle sweetness.

Kiwi is also a good source of vitamin C, which supports immune function, and contains antioxidants that help protect our cells from oxidative stress.

This is what we mean when we say every ingredient has a purpose.

Stay tuned for more Get Saucy Ingredient Science!

Aristotle said the highest human goal was flourishing. For most of history, good food was central to it.

Then we industrialised.

Ultra-processed food got cheaper, easier, and engineered to be irresistible.

And the diseases followed. 1 in 25 children now has a food allergy. IBD has risen from ~3 million cases in 1990 to nearly 5 million today.

Here’s what keeps us stuck.

Healthy eating still feels like a punishment. No joy. No taste. Nobody wants it.

That’s why I loved speaking with @brianbentow for this one.

He used a clean, allergen-free diet to recover from Crohn’s. Then built @getsaucykitchen, clean sauces that fix one of the sneakiest corners of the Western diet.

Start with one part of the food chain. Then clean up the rest.

The future of healthy eating isn’t more discipline.

It’s making the healthy choice the one you actually want.

The hard truth I had to face while trying to clear my acne?

Some of the foods I grew up loving didn’t love me back. 🥲🫣

I had to pay attention to how different foods affected me and eventually discovered that I’m sensitive to nightshades. That meant finding new versions of the comfort foods I loved, including spaghetti without traditional tomato sauce.

Three no-tomato sauces later… I finally found a winner. 🍝🙌

Follow if you’re ready to find foods that love your skin, body, and brain back without giving up everything you enjoy. 🧠✨

Mission complete 💕 Uplift Her is officially a wrap, and whew… what a day. Over 9,000 women showed up, and we had the absolute pleasure of connecting with so many of them, sharing health tips, wellness resources, nourishment by Pure Green shots, relaxation by SWTHZ sessions and conversations that truly matter.

We’re so grateful to have been part of such an incredible experience and already looking forward to coming back next year. The energy was unmatched, the vibes were high, and yes, having Meagan Good and Raheem Devaughn within sight of our booth just made it even more special ✨

Thank you to every woman who stopped by, asked questions, shared your story, and poured into us too. We loved every minute of it 💛
