4 Things They Never Told You About Pageantry 👑✨

💄- @glambykesta

📸 - @gfpstudios

Buddy, pageantry is so much more than the crown, the gowns, and the stage! 👀 As I continue my journey, here are 4 things I’m learning that every aspiring queen should know. 🤍

1. Pageantry is EXPENSIVE 💸

From outfits and makeup to registration, transport, and other preparations, the costs can add up quickly! You need sponsors, and this is the time to reach out for help. Don’t let shame, pride, or being too closed off stop you from asking. People can’t support you if they don’t know what you need. Put yourself out there, share your vision, and don’t be afraid to ask. You never know who might be willing to support your journey! 🫶🏽

2. You’ll need to smile… A LOT! 😁✨

Your smile is more than just looking pretty for pictures. It’s a way to show warmth, confidence, and connect with people. Greet people, make eye contact, and let your personality shine through. A genuine smile can make someone feel seen and welcomed. Remember, pageantry is also about how you make people feel. 🤍

3. It’s not just about looks and hard work 👑

Yes, preparation matters, but the judges and audience also want to see YOU! Your personality, your skills, your values, your confidence, and your ability to connect with people are all part of the package. Don’t get so caught up trying to be the perfect queen that you forget to show them the person behind the crown. ✨

4. The competition may last a week, but the friendships can last a lifetime 🫂💖

Don’t treat every contestant like your enemy. Make friends, network, support one another, and enjoy the experience! And Buddy, please plan ahead. Sort out your outfits, budget, schedule, transport, and other essentials early. You don’t want to be dealing with avoidable stress when you should be enjoying your moment! 📋💕

Pageantry is a journey of growth, discipline, confidence, and connection. I’m learning as I go, and I hope these reminders help another girl chasing her crown. 👑🤍

Tell me, Buddy: what’s one thing you wish someone had told you before your first pageant? 👇🏽

BLESSING @ 50: THE AGEGE BREAD STORY

At @bagbking 50th birthday, I had to tell them the "Agege bread" story.

As Dr of Ceremonies (DC), I read the room and with precision know when to throw in a story that would resonate with the guests. This was one of those moments

A night was had.

Thank you @gfpstudios for capturing this moment.

I KNOW MYSELF DIFFERENTLY NOW.

I’ve never been one to wait for permission.

I built businesses, took my seat at tables, and walked into rooms ready to lead.

What’s changed isn’t the courage. It’s the clarity.

I’m a little wiser now and a lot more certain. Still ambitious, and still willing to take the risk.

I know when to speak, when to listen, when to walk away, and when to bet on myself.

There’s still so much I want to build, learn, adapt to and grow into.

Same woman. Different level of clarity.
