me and my best pick

Due to unfortunate circumstances I will be stepping away from Maine Maritime Basketball.
When I was in 5th grade, I moved to Gulf Breeze. It took me a while to adjust, but I surprisingly met some of my best friends on a basketball court. I hated basketball. I was the short, chubby kid who thought he would never have a future in the game. Over time, those people on that basketball court became some of my best friends.
I didn’t really take basketball seriously until my junior year of high school, but I remember falling in love with the game my junior year. From there, I dedicated my life to basketball. It made it even better that all my best friends from that same playground were there with me.
Because of an orange ball with black stripes, I met some of the best people I’ve ever known. I wish I could have completed my journey on the court with the brothers I’ve made over the years. Things happen and that’s life. Sometimes you just have to throw it into God’s hands.
When people know my true basketball journey, they don’t realize how much I was able to accomplish. I was only 140 points away from 1,000 at MMA. I went from a no-name basketball player to an All-Conference First Team player. Not many people from Gulf Breeze, Florida can say that.
I do this for the people who played with the orange ball and loved it but never had the opportunity. I was able to wear BANKS on the back of my jersey and have my family watch me play in it. That was my greatest accomplishment in basketball.
I did this to make my family and friends proud, and I owe my life to these people. Sure this part of my basketball journey had ended. I still have one year of eligibility. And I will leave it to someone who is bigger than me🙏🫶
