WE SEE YOU! ⭐️
We celebrate you,
we celebrate your heritage,
we celebrate your story,
we celebrate your beauty,
we celebrate your scars,
we celebrate peculiarities.

YOU are what makes the world beautiful; Beauty starts the moment you decide to be yourself.

🚨 𝚉𝚎𝚛𝚘 𝙲𝚘𝚘𝚕 𝙿𝚛𝚎𝚜𝚎𝚗𝚝𝚜: 𝙷𝚊𝚒𝚛 𝚆𝚊𝚛𝚜, 𝚅𝚘𝚕𝚞𝚖𝚎 𝟷 🚨 Excited to share the first set of photos from my 'Hair Wars' series, one of several photography projects I've been working on for the page over the past few months! Big thanks to everyone that has given up their time to be photographed for what I hope will continue as a regular/ongoing series (and please note, if we've already shot and your pic isn't in this set, there are more posts to come!).

This series is very much inspired by/indebted to the old Kerouac Magazine feature with which it shares its name (and which I've shared several posts about on here previously), however, the inspiration behind the images is not necessarily *entirely* retrogressive... After 18 months of being couped up, there was definitely a sense that people in London were coming out of lockdown with a new appetite for stylistic self-expression and a relatively unprecedented (at least in recent memory/on such a broad scale) willingness to experiment with hair cuts and colors, as evidenced in the growing demand/popularity of talented hairstylists like @keisuke_watari_. In many ways, this renewed prominence afforded to hair in defining a 'look' offers a refreshing, DIY alternative to some of the more gatekept fashion movements of the past couple of years, with a point of entry that can be as minimal as a pack of box dye, a pair of hair clippers and a willingness to get creative (disclaimer: results may vary...!).

Thanks again to everyone that has been photographed for the series so far (and a big shout to Serin/ @ex_formationgirl for being the person to kick the series off back in January!), thanks also to @soulgem.online online for the additional casting support and also to @hysteric.fashion for the inspo and motivation. Hope you all enjoy the pics! Finally, if you're in London and you'd like to be photographed for the series, please drop me a DM/Email (and if you've done that already and not heard back, please send another as my inbox can get a little chaotic!) 💌

NB: Hair stylists (when known) tagged in the pics - if you’re responsible for any of these cuts and would like to be tagged, please get in touch!

“It’s your body, do what you want with it—and Contact will get you jobs based on you—and who you are. Not this idea of who you should be.” Knives, non-binary model and full-time freelancer comments on their experience of joining Contact.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We spoke to Knives for #pridemonth about their work as a model, set designer and artist. Their work continues to inspire us as they comment on the fact that we should focus more on queer joy, rather than ask queer people to bring up their trauma to market them as part of pride campaigns.
