I’ve been seeing a lot of people here on Instagram do the Barbie poster meme with their cosplays, but over on Twitter I’ve seen a lot of people do it with their D&D characters! Obviously, I had to get in on it; it’s just too much fun. 😂⁣
⁣
First up is my bard Lysanthir Hawthorne, with art by @ghostdraart! He’s gone off temporarily into semi-retirement to do his own thing. He’ll come back to the party at some point, but for now I’m having fun with my new character a lot.⁣
⁣
Speaking of which, I had to include my new character: Sir Ugilein “Gil” Vyrruden! I’ve only played him in 2 sessions, but it’s already been such a breath of fresh air and so much fun. After playing a very squishy Lore bard, it’s nice to play a paladin with a beefy AC that can be up close in melee combat and hit things with his ax. It’s a fun change of pace. (And not to mention his insane 23 Passive Perception!)
⁣
A few months ago, @tanauco asked if they could use Gil as a warm-up sketch and so before I even played him, I got great art for him! I’ll be posting that art soon now that I’ve started playing him, but I absolutely had to use it for this meme. The version of Gil’s art with his purple outer layers and amulet couldn’t be used because the generator kept auto-erasing his purple clothes along with the background. So bloody, freshly half-dead Gil it is! 🤣⁣

Here’s the art of my D&D half-elf bard-warlock Lysanthir Hawthorne that I got from @ghostdraart to celebrate our campaign reaching level 10 and 3+ years of playing! (And I may have most of the materials to make this costume for myself.)⁣
⁣
This is his go-to look. His style is very much fantasy late 18th century, and this is the first look the party ever saw him in. Under his arm is the notebook he writes all of his stories & songs in, as well as copying down things he’s seen on his journey. (Good luck trying to read it, though; he has the Linguist feat, so it’s all in his own cypher code based on a real 13th century numerical cypher + 16th century alphabetical cypher I found.)⁣
⁣
His warlock patron is the Archfey Verenestra, and she’s been a huge benefactor to the party—she’s the patron to two party members, and I find her so fascinating! In Lysanthir’s right hand is a glass snowdrop that Verenestra gave him to use as an arcane focus to channel a bit of her power, as long as he uses it for good. (He’s using that fey power to figure out more necromancy to do good… so that counts, right?)⁣
⁣
My sad lad bard’s collected quite a few rings on his journey. On his right hand he started with his late moon elf mother’s moonstone ring set in a silver branch band, the only thing he had of her for the past 17 years. He was recently given a silver ring with a blue stone, a Ring of Mind Shielding family heirloom that his secret noblewoman mother stole when she eloped with her family’s human gardener. Her soul was in the ring, giving them one last time to say goodbye.⁣
⁣
On his other hand is an oblong jade ring set in silver: a Ring of Psychic Resistance that the party found in the Underdark that Lysanthir got since he’s by far the squishiest member in the party. His last ring is a gold ring set with a ruby that he stole from the corpse of a well-off cultist the party killed the day Lysanthir murdered in cold blood for the first time. The cult is the reason his mother is dead, and the ring serves as a reminder.⁣
⁣
What’s the longest you’ve played a D&D character? Tell me about yours in the comments!⁣
