32 years apart.

While watching back old archival videos of past Hōkū Awards, I came across this moment from 1994. My mentor @skylarkrossetti and the Captain were presenting 2 Lifetime Achievement Awards at the 17th Annual Awards.

It’s the parallel in our dialogues that gave me instant chills. pūʻiwa wale ana hoʻi au! Nope, ʻaʻale loa - not planned or scripted at all. Good intention and pure aloha for our XX listeners and our craft🙏🏽😮‍💨😭

ke Akua das why.
grateful for this alignment. Pā kuʻu naʻau.

Appreciate it.

Appreciate the work. Appreciate the early mornings when your alarm feels like a test. Appreciate the soreness that reminds you of your effort. Appreciate the days you wanted to quit but didn’t. Appreciate the progress no one clapped for. Appreciate the discipline it takes to show up again and again. Appreciate the strength you’ve built, not just in your body but in your mind. Appreciate the quiet moments when it’s just you and the weight.

Appreciate how far you’ve come, even if it’s not where you want to be yet. Appreciate the little things.

They weren’t so little after all.
