POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Design Doubloons from my newsletter. #1 - my friends got tattoos in this matching style. The white contrast on the black is so nice. And the rendering on the wrinkles of that balloon… (will tag the artist once I hear from them who it is)

#2 - this was a lamp not for sale at a thrift shop in Wicker Park. But it was caked in dust. If you’re not gonna let me buy it at least take care of it.

#3 - We went on one of the architecture boat tours of Chicago (which I HIGHLY recommend. It was incredible) but they punched our tickets with a little boat hole puncher as we boarded

#4 - Went to a Coney Island Cyclones game and saw the team get beaten to a pulp, but the neon sign for tickets was beautiful

Okay and then these are some “design treaures” I found around the internet:

#1 - @fortunatejoaquin ‘s illustration are deceptively “simple.” They’re big simple shapes and bright colors, but it’s so clear each decision was painstakingly considered. The clarity of the subject matter while also keeping things this pretty is so impressive.

#2 - @analogue.doc recently made a post about hotel stickers in the 1930’s. Hotels used to slap these on your luggage as you got off the boat. They’re absolutely beautiful, but also can you image the damage they’d cause to expensive luggage?

#3 - This one is a crazy rabbit hole to fall down. @ghostpantry collects and photographs old pantry items. It’s an amazing catalogue of all kinds of design inspiration and history

#4 - I didn’t think about it until I saw it, but of course shop signs have trends and fads like anything else. Sign maker @designify recently posted about current trends and now I want a sign for out front my apartment

I also include creative stories and links at the top of each edition. I know you can’t click these, but just a preview
