POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

After watching Heeramandi, I am reminded of my favorite project: the Bridal Fashion Show and Queen of India, organized by @rungmunch_theater_with_a_cause @its_about_being_creative Smita Karhade. It took me over two months to bring it all together, but it was truly a labor of love.

Every detail was carefully considered – from the stunning costumes and exquisite jewelry to the flawless makeup and intricate hairstyles. Finding the perfect model for each queen was a rewarding challenge. The Bay Area audience was thrilled, and many people were inspired by the looks we created.

The music and slideshow added a perfect finishing touch. @ghostreeler Ravi. your work brought my vision to life in the most amazing way.

@varshagarg1976 love all the pictures you captured.

Here’s a glimpse into that unforgettable evening:

🥻📚 Saree Stories From The 21st Century 📚🥻

🖊️ MEET THE STORYTELLER: SRIVIDYA RAVI 🖊️

Srividya is a dancer by passion, a mom by choice, a saree enthusiast by love, and an IT professional by circumstance. While her love for the saree started young by observing her mum and other mum-figures don them in the most simplistic ways, she tends to give it a more playful twist while juggling her many roles and responsibilities as an Indian professional living abroad.

Read more about Srividya's relationship with the saree in our soon-to-be-released coffee table book SAREE STORIES FROM THE 21ST CENTURY!

The anthology is now available for pre-booking via the link in Bio. Pre-booking is at a concessioned rate as compared to full price when it actually releases in June 2024.

Pre-book your copy, NOW!

What’s on the Plate?
Well no experiments today. Just plain simple comfort food.
- Tomato Pappu (Dal)
- Bangaladumpa Vepudu (Potatoes)
- Vadiyalu (Crisps)
- Aavakaya (No translation needed for this 😊)

A menu that satisfies both your tummy and soul. Well the dal was missing salt. Is that a crime 💭 Nope just add some salt and move on.
Life is much bigger problems than fretting over salt.

Is there something called a perfect plate ? May be yes May be no. For me it is never about being perfect. It is just about being right .
The food on the plate is far from perfect but has just right intentions.

What’s on the plate?
- Pooshnikai (Pumpkin) Mor Kuzumbu
- Cabbage Parupusili
Mixture for some crunch and Avakaya for some spice.

While food is an emotion for some , it is just a means to live for others. Neither is right or wrong.
But when a certain food gets you emotional that’s comfort food. That is what keeps you rooted, keeps you connected, wraps you up in its warmth and showers you with love.
It could be dal chawal or Thair Sadam(Yogurt rice) or Rasam or Kadhi or Chole or Bhakri ..
As I prepped for the coming week , my fall back and comfort food is Gongura and Avakaya. Steaming hot rice with a dollop of Ghee and some Gongura and Avakaya.. And As I mix them together there is rush of emotions . And as you eat that first morsel you almost have those emotions flow down bringing back memories of home, of friends of the numerous lunches shared and numerous lunches fed.
