POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I had one hour to stroll through Balboa Park (@explorebalboapark) today and this is what I saw.

No. 5 on our list of 100 Museums, Libraries, and Cultural Districts to Travel For in The Noun Issue 001 is the Balboa Park Cultural District—home to 18 museums, gardens, theaters, archives, and cultural spaces all within one place.

This was just the walk from parking to the San Diego Museum of Art because I wanted to see their new exhibit. On the way, we passed through the Japanese Friendship Garden—also featured in The Noun.

Inside the museum, we came across Ala Ebtekar’s One Thousand Years of Light and Alejandro Cartagena’s Car Poolers #21—both featured in Issue 001.

A few favorites from the hour:
• Pablo Picasso (Spain)
• Wifredo Lam (Cuba)
• Utagawa Hiroshige (Japan)
• Gwynn Murrill (California)

The final 360 video was taken standing in Plaza de Panama where, within 30 seconds, you can feel languages and cultures all merging together in real time.

One hour somehow turned into centuries of printmaking, sculpture, surrealism, architecture, migration, and cultural memory.

Escape into No. 001 THE ARCHIVIST — Only 40 collectible, ad-free print editions of The Noun Issue 001 remain before they disappear into private shelves forever. Digital editions also available.

From Japan to France, Korea to Italy, these words reveal the ways people live beside books — stacking them, collecting them, displaying them, dreaming through them.

Four words for people who love books:

積ん読 (tsundoku) — Japan
The act of acquiring books and letting them pile up, often lovingly unread.

Bibliothèque imaginaire — France
An imagined library made of books one dreams of reading, remembering, or living beside.

책거리 (chaekgeori) — Korea
A traditional Korean art genre celebrating books, learning, scholarship, and beautiful objects.

Antilibrary — Italy
A personal collection of unread books, valued for what remains unknown.

Like many things in life, meaning is often found in the process itself. Not everything needs to be finished to hold value.

Consider this your invitation to spend the weekend slowly — wandering through bookstores, libraries, galleries, museums, and quiet corners around the world. Absorb your surroundings.

The Noun Issue No. 001 — The Archivist is available now in digital and print and features curated guides to bookstores, galleries, museums, libraries, cafés, and cultural spaces across the globe.

Some archives are built over centuries. Others are formed in real time.

THE NOUN | No. 001–The Archivist is now live.
Available in print and digital.

A 120-page, ad-free publication that opens, explores, and studies how culture is preserved—

Including:

A curated selection of museums and libraries across the world

An exploration of the philosophy of color—how meaning is shaped through visibility, material, and use

A study of street art through KAWS and Banksy—two artists who began in the same space, now archived in entirely different ways

And—

BTS.
A living archive, unfolding in real time

The issue also features conversations with:

Charlene Siliezar of @studio.luniste
Creative Director & Photographer, United States

Sket.chboo (@sket.chboo)
Portrait Artist, Asia

Blessing Ogungbe (@missisboss)

Each section closes with a dedicated space for children—
including DIY crafts, interactive games, and thoughtful prompts designed for younger readers.

—

No ads. No filler. Only considered work.

A slower object. Made to be kept.

THE NOUN begins here.

friendship & sisterhood is one of God’s greatest gifts to us

we spent the weekend praying, reading the word, encouraging one another & constantly looking for opportunities to love on everyone we met

The people around you should sharpen you, challenge you & point you to Jesus

Beyond blessed I’ve found that in so many sweet friendships

I love you sister @gigi.b 🤍

Yesterday, our family said goodbye to the home we’ve lived in for the past six years; the longest George and I have ever lived anywhere besides our childhood homes. It’s the house we brought Saylor home to from the hospital and where both of our kids learned to walk.

While our hearts are heavy leaving, we’re also excited for the new adventures ahead in our new home in Herndon, Virginia (we’re just 5 miles from Dulles Airport, so please come visit 😁).

During our time here, I had the gift of reconnecting with old friends and making new ones, and I will forever be grateful for those relationships. Thank you to @skylinechurch for pouring into our family, and to @captivateacademy for loving our kids as if they were your own. You are truly what has made this goodbye especially hard.

As Winnie the Pooh so perfectly said, “How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”

Goodbye, San Diego. Until we meet again 🩵🩵
