A couple of days late, but I remembered to post. Congratulations to Chief Bennett Activist, Rabble Rouser, and Librarian Aedan Bennett for graduating from FSU Saturday with his Masters in Library and Information Sciences. Next stop Philly in 2027.

12 years and 2 weeks apart. Who’d have thought that everyone in this pic would be an alumnus or student at FSU? Also, all 3 are now in the same city.

Take a minute to meet the first of our featured readers for the New Student Reading, Gillian Bennett!

Gillian Flannery Grace Bennett (@gillian.grace) is a Boston-born, Florida-raised writer with a BA in Creative Writing from Florida State University, and an M.Phil in Film Studies & Screenwriting from Trinity College Dublin.

As both a Southerner and an Irish-American, she brings a unique transatlantic perspective to her work, using fantasy & a Southern Gothic lens to explore the deep connections between the American South and Ireland. Her research & writing aim to break down reductive stereotypes, examine the importance of natural landscapes, and highlight the quiet magic of overlooked cultures and real people, whose stories are too often left untold.

See Gillian and the other new CWP writers on Thursday, August 28th at 6pm, upstairs at The Globe. Light refreshments will be served. Photograph of University of Georgia Creative Writing PhD Student Gillian Bennett

roll credits (and watch out for our names on them soon cause we're all masters of film now)

going back to a city that isn't home but still feels like it, getting matching tattoos with my forever girls and then being adopted by their parents cause the weather cancelled my family's flight into dublin, all in the same week we're graduating — a core memory 🫶

I love my friends, I love my family and - most importantly - I love being able to say that I graduated without tripping and falling flat on my face in front of the entire theatre.
