Highlights from Promega’s headquarters!! 🧬 Thank you Promega for hosting this visit! #phd #molecularbiology #phdlife #plantbiology #promega

There’s so much art in all of the buildings (the CEO, Bill Linton, loves collecting art and has a lot of it displayed throughout the facilities). These were some of my favorites. I love the giraffes (my favorite animal, so obviously), and there were all kinds of funky chairs! It definitely helped make it feel a lot more interesting and exciting than just a regular ol lab building. 🧫

The white raspberries might be better than the pink ones?? I also got to harvest BEANS (and eat them later). I love a legume 🌱

My research building does not look like this… hmmm

Last week, we hosted six science content creators for two days on our Madison campus. Here’s how it went!

We began by welcoming them to our on-site guest house before a tour of the Promega farm. They learned from Agriculture Operations Specialist Mike Daugherty and even harvested vegetables for a farm-to-table dinner.

The next day was packed with building tours, hands-on lab experience at the BTC Institute, one-on-ones with Promega scientists, and instrument demos. Between sessions, they decompressed with sound therapy, shot hoops in the Kornberg basketball gym, and hung out by the Feynman living wall.

When they left, they understood firsthand what Promega values looks like in action. We’re so grateful to have hosted such a wonderful group. Thank you to everyone at Promega who helped make this trip memorable! 💛

This week was absolutely one for the books! Being a scientist is so amazing!

I had the incredible opportunity to visit Promega’s headquarters in Madison, Wisconsin alongside some of the kindest, most dedicated PhD students and science communicators.

When I first started sharing my PhD journey online, I never imagined it would lead to opportunities like this or connect me with so many amazing people from different scientific backgrounds.

A lot of my days are spent moving between these steps, expressing protein, purifying it, running gels, and troubleshooting, no kidding!

Buffers, protein samples, and my favorite LEGO version of an ÄKTA system.

What looks like art is actually science. 🎨🦠 Every plate is a masterpiece grown by microorganisms.

A gallery of microbes. 🧫🔬 Nature's smallest artists.
