Happy Lost Fantasy #12 release day AND happy birthday to ME. Very thankful to be living a life dedicated to comic books, my favorite medium of storytelling. A life surrounded and supported by the best of people a dude can have as friends and family. 34 years of life. 19 years of comics retail. 12 years of being a shop owner (happy bday to @arsenalcomicsandgames as well). 4 years of being a comic book writer. The last year was filled with some of my best accomplishments to date and some of the best memories made yet. I have done things in my 34 years of existence that childhood me, teenage me, heck- even the version of myself that I was just a couple years ago, would have NEVER thought possible. Whether it’s the work I do as a writer, a shop owner, or the things that I do in my community to spread happiness and empower literacy through comics… I still feel like I’m only just getting started. The fire in me burns brighter and greener than ever. A fire that couldn’t exist without my store team members, my comic collaborators, the patrons of my stores, my work colleagues and mentors, and the lovely people I have in my life that believe in me and put up with my nonsensical eccentric ass. Lost Fantasy #12 is up for FINAL ORDER CUT-OFF this Monday 8/31 for a release of September 23rd! ⚔️ This issue features a one-shot backup story titled WORKPLACE VIOLENCE that introduces @chrisjohnsoninfiction on pencils & inks with @gillianclaireart on colors. It’s a story from LF protagonist Henry Blackheart’s past, spotlighting his time on the job for the illusive organization- The Black Pillar. This series gets a lot of love for our video game homage covers so every once in awhile when playing around in @curtantoniopires universe, I pay tribute to my favorite video games in my writing and this time that was RESIDENT EVIL. Extremely ecstatic to have collaborated with such talented artists that I respect and adore so much. This week I had the honor of spending a couple days in Texas with the good people of @mycomicshop, providing consulting on social media marketing. What an amazing operation! Being on the inside of the world’s largest online comic shop was breathtaking. Chances are that if you’re a comic collector, you’ve placed an order with them. Pictures don’t do it justice. I was truly in awe of the size of the operation, the impressive infrastructure that they have in place to make it all happen, and the great history that they have as a company. Conan Saunders who is the lead developer of MCS, is a really inspiring individual, seeing him do his thing was extremely impressive. Meeting his father, Buddy Saunders, the founder of MCS was a real highlight of my time there. I hope one day his story and history is recorded. Buddy has the coolest stories. What he, his family, and their amazing team have created is a real institution in this industry. The team they have is a Justice League/Avengers level of awesome. Make sure to follow them if you don’t already. We cooked up some really fun stuff for their socials that comic collectors are going to love. While in Texas, I got to hang out with some pals! @gillianclaireart, an extremely talented comic creator that I know thanks to working with @archiecomics! @reneereadss_ who is one of the best champions for comics (you gotta give her a follow), and my dude @zachary_kw who just opened up a brand new store @odysseycomicshop! So proud of him. I got a fun video collab being posted in a bit about the store. In the meantime give his store a follow. He’s doing great work out there in Fort Worth! I love comics! 💚
