i’m big enough to admit i have hoarding tendencies when it comes to ephemera (or as others may like to call it, “garbage”). every card i’ve ever received, tickets, stickers, packaging reside with me. sometimes i struggle to part with these tokens, which feels silly (it’s okay, you really don’t need to keep the receipt you kept from that trip you took in 2024). but i wanted to find a space to properly host some of my favorites.

i also think everyone has (at least) two wolves inside them. my two wolves are the physical world vs the digital world. i want to do my best to marry the two in what i create and what i do. i want my creations to take up space in the physical world, but i also want to host records of them that expands far beyond its physical state. it’s been easy to lose sight of the relationships i have in the real world around me in favor of the expanse of the digital world, but i also never want to lose the opportunity and depth that can be developed in the digital space. i want to experiment and play with the mixing of the two, so stay tuned 😚

Before the graduation euphoria wears off, we want to take a moment to acknowledge newly minted alumna Gillian Thomas. She was a student assistant for the CIC communications team this spring, and we were so glad to have her working with us. Gillian is lightning quick with graphics creation, and she instantly increases the positivity of any room she walks into.

While finishing her bachelor’s degree in visual communications, Gillian was also completing an Honors thesis entitled “Inked Up History: How 19th Century European Print was Influenced by Japanese Woodblock.”

Gillian, thank you for all your hard work this semester!
