Week 11 of Chicago Marathon Training

Back to the grind! First week of school, insane heat, humidity and storms, my wedding anniversary and my daughter ‘s birthday weekend, it’s been a lot!! I opted for this week to be a cutback week due to all of life stress. Plus I want to be feeling good and fresh going into these next 2 weeks of intense training before we taper.

Mileage breakdown⬇️
Monday - 6 miles of #stravaart with @sunsetstriders_mi 🚌
Tuesday - 10.5 mile speed workout on the treadmill
Wednesday - Rest Day
Thursday - 11 mile tempo run on the treadmill
Friday - 6 miles broken up into 3 outside and 3 indoor (damn thunderstorms!)
Saturday - 5.5 post waterpark miles + strides
Sunday - 16 hilly miles with @neenabeena19

57 miles for the week, 262 miles for August. Ready to take on these next 2 building weeks! 💪🏻

Weeks 9 and 10 of Chicago Marathon Training! @chimarathon

It’s been a hectic end of summer. Spent the last few weeks in my happy place and tried my best to disconnect from socials to soak in the last weeks of summer. Runs have been getting longer, and my body is getting pretty tired! I had my first 20 miler of the training block. And while I wish it would have felt better, it definitely could have felt worse. 😂 But we keep progressing and I need to be better with my recovery as the miles climb. As sad as I am to be back home, I know getting back into my routine will only help as the final weeks of training continue.

Back home I got to see the lovely @fleetfeetmichigan crew and running with friends is always a plus! Back on the doggie walking grind!

Week 9 - 64 miles
Week 10 - 64.5 miles

August truly slipped away!

Life lately has been super busy, but I’m still logging miles in preparation for the @chimarathon in between managing school year prep and BTS pd, fighting off some aches and pains, and life! I went to the @fleetfeetmichigan kickoff for the best team of pacesetters and ambassadors! So proud to be a member of this team!! Sprinkled in birthday celebrations for my beautiful, beloved girls because nothing makes my momma heart happier than seeing my own children growing up to shine their light in the world. ✨❤️ Family time is treasured and a priority. Today I got to spend some time at the @averunnersandwalkers picnic with friends. It is the best part of being in the running community in metro Detroit. You get to know many people from different walks of life and it brings us together! I’m happy to say that I’m getting to be known as “the running mom” of the group and I fully own that- the best compliment! Truth is, I am loving this stage of my life. I’m here to embrace it all! Ended the day with friends at the lake and time with the hubs! Summertime is fading fast…#runningcommunity #runningfriends #supportoneanother #bethereasonsomeonesmiles #runnersnotrunning

Call it the „ injury Serie“ - I had the great honor to be on Cindy’s podcast #gingergonerunning yesterday and we had a great conversation. We are both dealing with very similar issues right now and can’t wait to be cleared to get back to our favorite sport. https://open.spotify.com/episode/2AyesswfofNTN36qe61U38?si=_4GPmfIcQEmxE8n2YnvW2w&utm_source=copy-link

Week 6 of Chicago Marathon Training! Back to building.

It was so lovely being back home, and getting to spend time with friends! I kept busy between running, appointments, and taking care of some doggies. I ended July with 226 miles and completed the Strava elevation challenge for the month. It helped being up north with all the hills for the majority of July. I was also selected as a @fleetfeetmichigan ambassador and I couldn’t be more grateful. 🙏🏻

Mileage breakdown ⬇️

Monday - AM: 7.5 miles of speed work, PM: 3 miles with @sunsetstriders_mi
Tuesday - Rest day
Wednesday - 9 mile tempo run
Thursday - 5.5 miles
Friday - 16 mile long run (14 miles with @briepeers !)
Saturday - 6 miles
Sunday - 5 miles + strides

Total mileage - 54

August will be a big month of building!

From a 33-minute turkey trot 5k to a 2:57 marathon. Yes, you read that right.

Cindy Pokriefka was never a runner. She hated it. Her first 5k was a turkey trot in 2019. Now she’s chasing down marathon PRs most people wouldn’t dream of.

A strong week of training for Cindy means waking up at 5am to fit her run in before working 10+ hours a day as a CPA. She loves the sport so much she even started her own run club.

Her go-to RNWY products? Foundation and Complete Protein. The collagen in Foundation has made a difference in helping her feel smooth every day, and Complete Protein kickstarts her recovery and tastes so good.

Cindy, we’re proud to have you on the crew. Keep inspiring us!

June was a heck of a month! It began with a banger of a birthday celebration, followed by traveling around Michigan every single weekend. And we ended the month in the most magical place on earth.

July will be much more laid back, and I am totally here for it 💆🏻‍♀️

💙💛 I decided that these photos need a forever home on my memory grid.
I will “never” run The Boston Marathon. “Never” is in quotes because I’ve learned not to say that word.
🦄 But as I reflect on the past week, I can’t help but still stand in absolute awe of the superhumans who I am so grateful to call my friends, who conquered Boston this year. From PRs, to Age Group awards, to miles of memories and grit and tears- I continue to be inspired by these incredible people.
💙💛One of my friends shared in a post that “nothing has ever come easy to her.” I loved her vulnerability in sharing that. It is easy to look at these shiny medals and bright blue jackets, and perhaps assume that it happens easily for these runners. It is in fact the opposite.
They work hard.
They confront obstacles and setbacks.
They experience pain.
They know disappointment and self-doubt and fear. (They choose to stare those enemies down)
They fight, they try, they refuse to give up or settle.
They smile, they congratulate others along the way.
They are ambassadors of hope and of humanity at its finest when pushing beyond imagined limitations.
•
They are my friends, and I am so very proud of them all.
Congratulations Boston, Class of ‘26.
