Since finishing my undergraduate degree at UGA, I’ve lived at nine different addresses. Multiple cities, employers and jobs, lots of highs, plenty of lows, and sadly some significant losses. The one consistent has always been Athens. As much as it’s changed, it still holds so many memories and feels completely familiar (even as I find myself lost amongst the new developments!)

This past weekend, as part of my work on the Women of UGA Council, I was privileged to participate in Advancing the Arch, learning and collaborating alongside of some of UGA’s most dedicated ambassadors. It was wonderful to hear more about exciting initiatives, spend time with other passionate UGA alumni, and be back in the place that now, more than ever, feels like home.

If you’ve been considering reengaging with UGA, let this be your sign. Please don’t hesitate to contact me - I’ll be happy to help you determine how best to plug back in, whether it’s simply attending an upcoming event, registering to become a mentor, or applying for a council or board in the future. While we’ve all gone our separate ways since undergrad and grad school, I’m certain we’re all grateful for the ways in which UGA has shaped us and we will forever bleed red and black. GO DAWGS!

I may not be a UGA fan, but my clients are (and I’m THEIR biggest fan.) The power of social media…

In early 2023 I got a DM from a woman who followed me on TikTok, asking if I would help her plan her honeymoon in Italy. She said she lived in Atlanta and would love to meet for coffee. I’m in my “say yes” era, so I did just that and met Shelby (red head).

At the end of our coffee date, I felt like I knew her and said I had a friend who I feel like she would also get along with really well and has a love of travel like us (Kristen in the middle).

Shelby says, “I have a girlfriend who works in marketing that I think you’d love” (Mel on the right) we decide to organize a little girls’ night dinner a couple weeks later and ever since, we’ve managed to try and get together about once a month, always picking up where we left off.

Cheesy and long story, but the moral is…send the DM. Make the introduction. Plan the dinner. You have no idea where your friends are hiding that you’ve never met. And you may be missing out on some incredible people who are meant to be in your life. 🤍
