I’ve always wanted to have the kind of home that people just drop by, and there’s a little snacky thing to offer, a cup of coffee, glass of wine. I’ve never had a home where this was possible (my chambre de bonne in Paris was mostly big enough for a bed, my apartment in Queens makes it just far enough away to make in un-drop-innable, and so on).

When I opened Chomps, I didn’t know that’s what I’d be getting. It is my home—I’ve literally decorated with pieces from my apartment, things that I have carried from Paris, to Denver, and now NYC. I’ve loved having a place where all of my friends can come by and visit. It’s also been my place to make new friends, which has been such a gift❤️Thanks to everyone (near and far) who has made this first month so special.

Soft Opening Update: Oh man, where do I start? First, thank you to @lukeantonyneville for helping me sail the SS Soup. Thanks to everyone who came to eat soup and my friends who came to support! And to @peasantstockessex your customers are loyal and lovely, and everyone told us how much they miss you❣️ @essexmarket thanks for letting me do this thing! And to my partner Dan, thank you for helping me realize my dream. Soup: it takes a village.

I’m not serving today, Wednesday, while I take *stock* of everything I learned yesterday. Back at it Thursday and Friday! Hope to see you soon🫕
