Wishing for the tender 2025, I thank 2024 - a dragon-felt year of burning and practised resilience. The year I grew up more than I ever have ☆⋆｡𖦹°‧★ Reflecting on the past year - which was also the year of my curatorial blossoming - I wish to thank @emilija._____ for her love and trust with curating her solo show “Elektra” (VLN), amazing Tabita Rezaire (#tabitarezaire) for “Exuviation Fervor” (at @zeimiaimanorhouse), 6 sweetest artists I’ve worked with for “(Hope)stalgic Materialities and Wishful Horizons” in New York, and a wild international group of 21 artists with whom I created “Murmurs & Roars” (also NYC). My biggest thank you to @residencyunlimited and @uncool_artist for bringing me back to the city of dreams (you all now what NYC means to me)☺️ Thank you for all the opportunities and funding @lietuvoskulturostaryba and for beautiful collaborations throughout the year @nacionalinedailesgalerija @rupert_residency @ehuofficial 🤍 But most of all, thank you to my friends and family, who stood next to me through both the darkest, wildest, and warmest! 🌆 Introducing UA Artist in Residence: Giorgia Marras 🌆 Giorgia Marras’s artistic path began in her hometown of Genoa, Italy, where her passion for art was sparked from an early age. A self-taught painter who later trained in Genoa’s art schools, Giorgia developed a distinctive visual language blending traditional techniques with contemporary themes. Currently, she works as an art restoration assistant, handling invaluable Renaissance masterpieces—a role that has deeply influenced her artistic sensitivity and style. Drawing on her classic training inspired by masters like Caravaggio, Giorgia's art has evolved toward a surrealist aesthetic, using media such as cement, resin, spray paints, and varnishes. As Giorgia says: "My plans for the residency are, first and foremost, to connect with new people and draw inspiration from the vitality and energy of a complex and stimulating city like New York. I aim to create works that address how we live our daily lives, often shaped by societal pressures and hidden truths, inviting viewers to reflect on their own position in the modern world." During her residency, Giorgia plans to create a series of three or four oil paintings, each exploring themes like identity, freedom, and social truths.
