“I’ve been writing my whole life - letters to my dad in jail, poems, songs, journal entries, essays. Writing became the one place I could put my pain and still find peace. l’ve battled severe mental illness for most of my life. There were times I didn’t want to be here anymore — moments so dark I came face to face with suicide more than once. But each time, right at the edge, I heard God’s voice telling me not to do it. That voice pulled me back and reminded me that my story wasn’t finished. I’ve also faced death in other ways that forced me to see how deeply God had been hearing me all along — even when I couldn’t hear myself. I’m an emotional sponge. I absorb everything — the generational trauma, my family’s pain, the suffering of the people I grew up with. It made life heavy. I learned to bottle it all up and implode when I was alone. My mind adapted by avoiding relationships — because deep down, l’ve always struggled with abandonment, or even just the fear of it. But those same battles gave birth to purpose. I became a therapist — the first in my family to earn a master’s degree — and I built a studio where people from my community can come and release everything they’ve been holding in, just like I once had to. I’ve had friends and family fighting addiction, legal battles, and mental illness come through and leave lighter — sometimes I don’t charge them a thing. Music and therapy aren’t separate for me. They’re both extensions of healing — emotional, spiritual, holistic. Every song I sing is a prayer, a release, and a reminder that love is the answer. But love starts within. Every time I create, I’m helping others — and myself - to remember that we were never alone in our pain.”
