Some spaces are meant to be loved deeply, not universally. This bathroom is one of them.

When I designed this primary bathroom, I wanted something unapologetically bold. Something that challenged the predictable neutral palettes we’ve become so accustomed to seeing in new construction. I was drawn to the contrast between the rich, burgundy subway tile and dramatic Calacatta Viola marble, balanced by the warmth of the maple vanity and brass accents. Not only were the materials moody, but they were impossible to ignore.

Designing an expressive space in a market home certainly can be a gable, but the homeowner who ultimately fell in love with this house was equally captivated by this bathroom. A reminder that you don’t always have to play it safe to get it right.

Sometimes the riskiest design decisions make the most lasting impressions.
