Iconic it was attending the very last two fashion weeks at Bryant Park and the very first two at Lincoln Center. ✨ At the time the New York Fashion Week shows were referred to as Mercedes Benz Fashion Week (MBFW).

There was a buzz in the air… & The Tents were truly invigorating. I took the Amtrak train there on a whim (from Chicago) and didn’t know anyone living in New York. Grateful to the people who helped me along the way... & to the fashion week besties I have picked up through the years simply by attending Fashion Week. 👯

When I first attended Fashion Week I was working for various publications blogging as press ✍️:) I made many connections initially on Couchsurfing, Craigslist, Facebook, and LinkedIn. The pre-smartphone days were interesting times where people actually took business cards and exchanged numbers at events. So much that I had a surplus of business cards overflowing my handbag on certain evenings.

The phone photos I took are pretty grainy as you can see. The others pictured here are from a friend Jason’s camera. I borrowed it to capture a few shows in more detail. Shoutout to my first fashion week friends, the celebs and designers we crossed paths with (who were actually super chill), and the industry experts who inspired me greatly… 💛☺️☀️✨

Even then most all my looks were secondhand, vintage, things I made, or looks borrowed from other local designers. 🪡#slowfashion

House of Field! Congratulations to @patriciafield on her store opening! I got to attend the grand opening this past Saturday and had an amazing time! Felt just like old times catching up with my art fashion family! I remember back in the early 2000s going to New York to her store on Bowery and saying to myself I need to have my art in this store thinking one day! I started working with Ms Pat back in 2013!
