I love how @gisbertpoeppler has transformed this rooftop apartment in Berlin’s Mitte. Within the glass pavilion, three distinct volumes shape the open plan, while colour, texture and bespoke furniture make the home feel both considered and completely personal.

Here’s another highlight from our Currents 2026 recap — and the good news is, you can still experience it yourself. In the exhibition Follow the White Rabbit at @galeriegeorgnothelfer , interior designer @gisbertpoeppler presents sculptural design objects alongside works by designer @heike_buchfelder , in dialogue with works by the artists MK Kaehne and Walter Stöhrer. On view until 31 October.

“Franne Davids in Paris” is now open through Saturday! Come visit us 11AM-6PM at 43 Rue des Tournelles in the Marais. Photos by Thibault Jorge.

“Franne’s journey to Paris remains a mystery. We can only rewrite, suppose, invent, formulate hypotheses. One thing, however, seems certain: the museums of the city, their collections, their visions, could not have left her indifferent. For although she is often placed within outsider art, cast as an artist on the margins, her works abound in references, allusions, direct connections, echoes and rewritings. Even in the basement of her parents’ house, Franne Davids takes possession of painting and inscribes herself within its history.”

The Village by @gisbertpoeppler, a rooftop apartment in Berlin’s Mitte. Within an existing glass pavilion, three enclosed volumes give shape to an open plan, where rich colour, varied materials and custom furniture create a home attuned to its owners’ daily lives.

A confident study in colour. Ochre yellow, coral and cool blue flow from room to room, while sculptural seating, patterned upholstery and warm timber bring depth to the palette. An interior where playful contrasts feel beautifully considered.

It wasn’t just Alice who followed the White Rabbit…

This narrative image has become firmly anchored in the pop-cultural memory across generations and serves as a metaphor for different paths into the unknown. When we recall the images created by Lewis Carroll’s novel Alice Adventures in Wonderland or by its film adaptations, they transport us back to fantastical worlds. [...]

[...] The exhibition "Follow the White Rabbit" explores our perceptual experience through a surreal arrangement. Rather than luring us into the abyss, it reinterprets seemingly inscrutable forms. At the intersection of (functional) art and (collectible) design, it opens a space in between. [...]

Gisbert Pöppler’s tabletop reflects not only the room but also the movements depicted in KRH Sonderborg’s drawing. They form visual traces on the surface of the silver-metallic panel—a reference to the material’s eventual transformation through individual, everyday use. [...]
Pöppler’s designs spring from a playful enthusiasm for color and geometric shapes. In a new, almost surreal-seeming figuration, Walter Stöhrer’s explosive color compositions, combined with his metallic-blue construction, reveal a more radical materiality and gestural emotionality. [...]
